  • Escape to the peace and quiet of the San Juan Mountains at Cabin Tranquilo, a cozy, dog-friendly retreat surrounded by trees and nature. Located about 16 miles from Durango, this secluded cabin offers the chance to slow down, enjoy the scenery, and spend quality time together away from the distractions of everyday life. During the winter months, a 4x4 vehicle is recommended for accessing the property.

    The open main living area features vaulted ceilings and warm wood accents, creating a comfortable space to gather and unwind. Curl up with a book beside the wood stove, put on a favorite record from the vinyl collection, or simply enjoy the peaceful setting. With no WiFi or TV, Cabin Tranquilo makes it easy to step away from screens and reconnect with the people you're traveling with.

    The fully equipped kitchen has stainless steel appliances and everything you need to prepare meals at home. The breakfast bar provides a casual place to gather while dinner is being prepared, and the dishwasher makes cleanup easy. When the weather is right, take your meal outside and enjoy dinner on the deck surrounded by the trees.

    The cabin offers one bedroom, a loft, and one bathroom, comfortably sleeping up to four guests. The main-level bedroom features a queen-size bed, while the upstairs loft provides an additional queen-size bed. A private washer and dryer are also available for added convenience during your stay.

    Step outside onto the deck to enjoy the peaceful forest setting and mountain views. Bring your small dog along to experience the retreat with you, with a maximum pet weight of 60 pounds. Whether you're enjoying a quiet morning coffee, watching the sun set through the trees, or relaxing with a local brew, the outdoor space offers an ideal place to slow down and take in your surroundings.

    When you're ready to explore, trails throughout the San Juan National Forest are nearby, while the Animas River offers opportunities for fly fishing and kayaking. Head into Durango for local dining, seasonal brews, and an evening at Steamworks Brewing Company, or make the trip to Purgatory Resort for a day on the slopes during ski season.

    Cabin Tranquilo is a true escape for guests looking to unplug, reconnect, and enjoy the natural beauty of Southwest Colorado. Leave the screens behind, breathe in the mountain air, and settle into a slower pace surrounded by the forest.

What a beautiful spot with great views! We loved being unplugged and enjoying the nature around us. Cabin was clean and well stocked. Don't be intimidated by no WiFi. We were able to find a few spots!! But you won't want it.

First time visit

This property is clean and relaxing. We spent most of the days hiking and enjoying the San Juan Mountains. We would return to the cabin in the evening and relax on the back deck. The stereo system with records and cassettes was a nice touch. We will definitely stay here again.

Perfect Getaway

We loved the beautiful cabin itself and the gorgeous view. Lots to do nearby if you want to hike and see other towns in the area or Mesa Verde. This is definitely someone’s happy place and it became ours for a few days on our Colorado road trip.

Unplugged Getaway

This location was quiet and beautiful. The cabin was clean and well-stocked. We never heard or saw the neighbors. This location is close to all the places we wanted to go.

Cute cabin in serene location

Overall we Enjoyed our stay at the cabin. It had all the things needed for our stay. The location is close enough to town but quite and serene. The only cons I would mention is that the bed in main bedroom was very firm and the water had a strange oder.

Peaceful

Peaceful and just what we needed. Wish we could of stayed longer. The bed was a little hard for our tastes but we have no complaints other than that. We loved to come back again.
