"Room needed refurbishment. Bathroom was tired looking & air con didnt work very well/noisy. Staff were very helpful. Breakfast had normal yoghurt only & no other choices. Bar was very expensive & no air con so was very warm/uncomfortable."

"Having booked on Expedia a Double Deluxe was purchased however the person on reception wanted extra for a room and was told the only room available was a twin room being Room 6. It was not a nice room with sloping floor in the bedroom and bathroom. Rather disappointed as over the years I have colleagues who have stayed. Would return but would insist on getting the room I had purchased."

"We were surprised on arrival to be given an apartment as we had only booked a double room. As we were there for a few nights it was good to have the extra space and kitchen facilities. Everything was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. We understand that this is a new venture and there were one or two things that hadn't quite been finished off but overall it was a good stay. We ate in the pub on one night and the food was excellent. Maybe one or two more options for gluten free....

"It’s important to note that there is actually no One to help on property. It’s a secured entrance with keypad and a 24 hour phone service to help if needed. We did not find that to be an issue. The rooms were clean and roomy, and amenities in room were very nice (iron, refrigerator, hair dryer). Location to the city square was absolutely perfect! Literally a 3 minutes walk. We will return to this hotel and definitely stay longer! 2 thumbs up!!"

"Rooms need some proper maintenance not superficial maintenance. Panels in the bathroom had been roughly relocated/fixed with adhesives or screws. Spotlights did not fit the holes in the ceiling, Bed was uncomfortable, eg we could feel the springs in the mattress which did not create a good nights sleep."

"Very easy location if you are travelling northwards on the A1. A very leafy part of Darlington. There is a park the other side of the road a bit further on but we didn't go to it. The building has character and history that we like but there are modern rooms if you prefer that style. We have been twice recently and will go again. On the 2 Saturdays we have been there there have been weddings but have not been disturbed by any noise and quite enjoy seeing some of the guests as we go through the...
