House is very outdated. Owner hasn’t done anything to the house since they bought it. Water issues, pool heater didn’t work when told it was working. Oven didn’t work, I can keep going!

I don’t even know where to start with this review. I’ve had to contact the management people before we even came down to stay multiple times. When we arrived, there was no Wi-Fi the entire week, cockroaches, tape on the floor to patch up the floorboards, water running with the ice machine and the air-conditioning unit wasn’t working well. Everything looked old dense in the wall. Was not kept up very well as the picture showed. I would say the best thing about this front was the location and being right on the beach. Maintenance had to come twice while we were there and not very much seating to lounge around for as many as the home could house.

Disgusting

I want to post pictures of this home as it was disgusting. We were informed after having three different maintenance people come to the property to repair things but also not repair things that the owner of this property doesn't even live in the country and is a slum lord. He won't get things fixed or updated because he still makes a tone of rental money on this property. The pool didn't work the heat to the pool didn't work the mattresses were the most disgusting stained things I have ever seen. The TV's didn't work the tub faucets leaked all over the floor because they weren't put on correctly. The ceilings looked like they were going to fall in because of water damage. It was horrible. Benchmark Property Management knew about the home being in disarray and VRBO should not be representing this home as it will bring your rating down. I am disgusted that out of all the times I have used VRBO this was the type of home and Management team you have representing you. I will find a way to add pictures and reviews wherever I possibly can so that this home doesn't ger represented anymore.

Needs a lot of updates and fixing

The property location was right on the beach which was nice, it was very busy though because the public beach access is extremely close. The house needs updating in many areas including but not limited to the ovens, the ice maker, the plumbing, and the dishwasher. The house needs a very good deep cleaning as there was roach feces in several cabinets. We had nightly visits from huge, flying roaches, approximately 20 total. It was disgusting. Two night before we left we found out that the windows in the kitchen area were left open, which we assumed was the reason for the roach infestation. The bathrooms and sinks need updating, as the faucets leak all over the floor as do the toilets. The downstairs shower does not drain and has a very strong smell of urine. The ice maker never did work properly for the duration of our stay. We contacted benchmark management and they never sent anyone out. We will never be renting this house again or any house from benchmark management. We were very disappointed.

Issues.. but overall it was OK

Like many other reviews, the property was dirty. I even emailed the property before our stay and was assured it would be cleaned. The floors were so dirty our feet were black. There were roaches. A lot of things were broken - most importantly the door to the pool does not stay shut so be careful if you are bringing young children who might wander around. I did notify management about this issue. Besides all the issues, the size and location of property is great for big families.

Family vacation

This should be a great home to have in VRBO availability. Unfortunately it needs to have a couple of weeks of maintenance and repairs. Hours after arrival our Grand kids were laying on the sofa’s and noticed that their feet were really dirty from walking barefoot in the house. Landscaping is a mess. Garage is loaded with previous replacement appliances. The back door needs door handle and latch replaced. When walking in to kitchen the Sheetrock on the corner of the bar area is separated. Exterior show signs of stucco repairs paint not matching. Widows rotten in kitchen area. Bolster broken on staircase. Downstairs flooring was replaced with a cheaper laminate flooring and needs replaced. Upon arrival the house had a serious musty smell. We went and bought plug-ins to alleviate the smell. The house is in an awesome location. Layout is good. Should be a wonderful place to enjoy. Unfortunately it leaves a lot to be desired with current conditions. As a fellow VRBO homeowner it was disappointing to spend this much money for the current conditions.

Beware…home and management not commensurate with the price tag

I will begin with the positive by saying the house was large enough to accommodate our family of 13 comfortably. The property is located directly beach front however it is just beside the public beach access which led to extreme crowding. In general the house is in pathetic disrepair. There are several areas of rotten wood inside which lends to a stale odor/stench. In addition there was mold around several windows and around air conditioning vents. The bathrooms, to be honest, were disgusting and had mold and mildew around the edges of very old shower/tub inserts. We contacted the management about the mold, but they never sent anyone to inspect or clean. Prior to our stay we read several reviews about the oven and ice maker being broken. When we contacted them to inquire if the repairs had been made, they offered to let us cancel our reservation but there would be no refund of our money because it was too late for a cancellation. We were assured by the management company that these repairs had been made via calls and e-mail. They were not only not repaired but the parts to repair them had not been received according to the service man sent out to check the appliances. In addition, there was mildew inside of the ice maker. The refrigerator was quite unclean and had a sticky brown residue below the drawers. This is a three story home with a large staircase. The railing is not stable and actually had one broken piece. The deck around the pool is also loose.

Don't stay here! Ruined my vow renewal experience

Was notified the day before my stay that the oven did not work. During our stay, the elevator did not work, the pool was dirty and would not heat, furniture was soiled/stained, spiders found in two of the beds, and because the steps were not secured to the bunk bed one of the kids fell off the steps trying to get on the top bunk. On my vow renewal day, instead of focusing on my ceremony, I received a visit from a rep from the company to discuss my experience while my stylist was doing my hair in the bathroom. Just sad! I advise all guests to take pics before and after their stay. This company is not trustworthy at all. My mother-in-law had to sleep on the couch, as she could not walk up the steps and my guests did not want to sit on the soiled chairs in the kitchen. In addition, the caterer spent way more time than anticipated preparing our meals. This company does not sell the experience they promise. I asked for the company's legal team information and was originally told it was on their website. That was a lie! They then told me to have my lawyer call the guests relations number. I have never been so disappointed!

Great location, ok house

We stayed at this property for a week in early November… The location is great! Just steps out the back door is the white sand beach that Destin is famous for. Communication with the management company was great and easy. However, the property manager himself was difficult to work with. We had several issues with the house, which the property management company took care of promptly, which was great! The house is well worn either from VRBO guests or just time. Prior to coming I had called the management company and asked about all the issues that were revealed in prior reviews on Vrbo. They assured me that almost all of them had been taken care of, except the ovens. The ovens were very slow to heat and uneven cooking. They have new ones on order, and those will be installed at some point in the future… As others noted, the burners on the stove don’t work very well either. We had a private chef come in and cook one evening, and he had to use all of the flawed equipment. But he was a pro, And made it work well! I reached out to the management company twice before arriving asking if there was a pack and play available and a high chair. They were never able to answer me. Upon arriving, we found to pack and plays, and a highchair, dusty and in rough condition in the garage. This property boasts of six parking spaces… We had three SUVs parked in the driveway and it was very hard to get in and out. The two garage spaces in the property do have quite a bit of junk in them and it is a very tight squeeze for something like a suburban to fit in there, so if you are driving a large vehicle, do not plan on parking in the garage. Also, the pictures of the pool are a little deceiving, it is much smaller than the pictures make it look like. I will say that we had the pool heated while we were there and the pool heat works very well! We have been at other properties where the pool heat just barely functions. So this was a pleasant surprise to have a good pool heat for the kids to jump in on the cooler days especially . We had ages 60 down to 18 months and there was plenty of room in the house for everyone. It is good to note that the bedroom that is above the garage is not accessible directly through the house. You have to go outside. But it is like its own little apartment with a kitchenette, table, bathroom, and bedroom. Overall, we enjoyed ourselves particularly because of the great location of this house! Because of the location one can overlook the flaws!

Disappointed in Destin

Similar to other visitors’ experiences, we found that while the location and beach were nice, the house itself was very worn down. The roof was broken and had birds flying in/out at all hours and the mess they made on pool deck made it mostly unusable. The house has a nice amount of space and layout, but it just hasn’t been taken care of. Despite being a large home, the management company provided one trash bag for our 4-night stay. Given the price point for this rental, it was just an unnecessary cheap move; to have to buy/bring your own trash bags to help keep their property tidy just seems odd. We also had to wait for the pool to be cleaned until our 3rd day because the pool mgmt company only comes on Saturdays. Half the bottom was covered in sand from previous guests- just gross. Again- not the “luxury” experience we thought we were paying for.

I will not stay at this home again. Great location and I think that’s how they get you. Pictures fooled us. Heated pool on the beach is hard to find. Upstairs window broken Along with the back door. Dining room tables were so sticky your couldn’t play cards. Won’t stay here or use Bench Mark again. This home is very poorly kept and dirty. Couldn’t park in garage due to the junk inside. Washer and Dryer didn’t work right either wouldn’t spin or dry clothes. Several toilets wouldn’t flush. Mold was growing in the cups at the bar. Elevator kept breaking. Barbecue pits were so rusty and nasty you couldn’t use.

Everything was perfect

I can’t express enough how great our stay was. We renewed our 20th vows, and we was able to accommodate all 75of our guests. Nicole and her staff was amazing. They had a great setup for me and my husband. They also made sure we had everything we need. Thank you all!

Needs upgrade big time

The place was nice overall however the banister above the garage was weak, furniture needs changed, a few things were broken and scratched, and one of the rooms were leaking from the ceiling due to all the rain.

I would do it again. Add one picture of the reserved beach chairs with umbrellas. I didn’t know we had this until I got to the beach!

Beautiful home and location losing it’s luster

The beachfront location is terrific and the fact that it could accommodate our 20 family members with the flexibility of a pool was a most welcome feature. The home is showing extreme wear and tear. The exterior needs power washing, landscaping is an eye sore. We notified management company: mold in bathrooms, rainwater leaking from can light in bedroom, kitchen wood tables very sticky and this was also brought up in a May review, along with other items. Our family really enjoyed our stay, but the property needs some tender loving care.

2021 family reunion

The house was beautiful and accommodated 15 easily for our family reunion. The biggest complaint was the beds /mattresses were very uncomfortable. The location pool beach and beach chairs was wonderful!

Spring Break

We have come to Destin for years and this by far has been our favorite stay. The house is everything it says it is and MORE. Great location, perfect set up for large group, and when we had an issue, it was quickly taken care. Spring break was very busy this year in Destin, the beaches were so packed, so we were very thankful for the private pool!!!!!!! We can’t wait to go back next year!!!!!

View was amazing

View was amazing.. house was good except a few things need updated oven takes 45 min to heat and you have to up temp 25 degrees , stove, refrigerator is to small for that many people. The house is amazing. One thing that should state on the website is the $35 per day extra charge to heat pool. We would defiantly go back if house is maintained.
