"My original plan was to get a place where I could sit and watch ships go by. This home fit the bill perfectly. I got several pictures of passing ore and cruise ships. Our relatives from Missouri ended up coming along with us and my wife took them to Mackinac Island and we all went to Sault St. Marie on the last day and did a cruise through the locks. "The location in great for Drummond Island. The house is fine to stay in, but could use a really deep cleaning. The sheets and towels need to be replaced. The owner was very good about contacting us initially and we let her know afterwards about the cleaning issues and she stated all would be rectified. She was easy to work with via texting. "We had a fantastic stay at the Bear’s Den for Labor Day week/end 2025. The owners have done a wonderful job of making this a fantastic up north getaway in the woods. It was so peaceful and relaxing while also having all you need in terms of modern amenities. There were 7 of us plus a dog and we were all cozy and comfortable. You need to plan around the ferry for coming and going but we thought that added to the adventure and the kids loved it. Highly recommend. My parents already want to come...

"My partner, dog and I came to sugar island to experience a new place in the UP and we will certainly be returning to Sweet Retreat!! Sheri and Jeff were the most accommodating of hosts and truly go above and beyond to ensure everyone’s comfort and fun. We used the bikes on the property and were lucky enough to take a pontoon cruise with the hosts our last night. The cabin was absolutely adorable and had everything we needed. I couldn’t recommend staying here enough! We can’t wait to come back!"
