Beautiful Home Located On The Smith River Nestled In The Redwoods-Free Wifi

The Hiouchi Hideaway is located approximately 8 miles northeast of Crescent City, California along scenic HWY 199 in Hiouchi, California. Nestled in the redwoods on the Smith River by Jedediah Smith State Park. Situated in a temperate rain forest, Hiouchi is known for its natural beauty and warmer climate. The Hiouchi Hideaway is on 1.4 acres and is walking distance from a public boat launch and beaches on the Smith River. Its location is ideal for activities such as hiking, fishing, and swimming. You can hike 2.5 miles to Stout Grove where majestic redwoods thrive or continue your hike to Jedediah Smith State Park.

This large home has 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, living room, family room, large kitchen and dining area.
Bedroom accommodations consist of one king bed, one queen bed, and two twin beds. There is also a futon in the family room. The kitchen is large with plenty of cabinet space and a granite island.
The living room has a 50 inch flat screen TV with surround sound and computer with internet access. Wifi is also available. There are patio decks in the front and back of the home.
For your security there is a Ring surveillance camera located at the front of the garage monitoring the driveway. This is the only camera on the property.

This property is wonderful. To begin with it is located on the street that becomes Howland Hill Road, a prime access road for some of the best hiking trails. In addition the property is comfortably furnished and appointed, and the kitchen is very well appointed. Finally, the yard is beautiful and perfectly suited and furnished for conversation and perhaps a glass of wine. We totally enjoyed our stay here and will assuredly return.

Crescent City vacation

The home was great but the heating was poor. The listing made it look like there was access to the river but the only access we found was down the road a ways. We enjoyed the location and peaceful surroundings.

Great for a family gathering

We appreciated the location of the property between Medford and the ocean. It was also located near another VRBO we were able to rent to help accommodate all of our family. Plenty to do with the redwoods, the beach, and antique shops, and restaurants all nearby. Pricing was reasonable too.

This vacation rental is perfect! The location is superb. Located at the gateway of Douglas park it affords easy and quick access to all the sought after trails and river access points. The home is very spacious, private, clean and modern, our family and friends where more then pleased. This was our third visit, and we will definitely rent again in the near future.

We were able to park our raft trailer and the host was even nice enough to let us drop it off early. Very clean and spacious house at a great location for outdoor recreation.

Lovely 2000s style nostalgic home

It has a "loving" lived-in feel. All the classy 2 closets, large bath, sky-lit design of the 2000s. It has a life to it, you can feel that people enjoyed this house, grandpa and grandma lived here when they were young. Now the family lives next door - I hope they don't mind me mentioning this because it made me feel safe knowing they were right next door in a place where there is no cell signal. There is a jacuzzi inside that I didn't use this time. Now a hut tub in the back would be perfection... Maybe some day. 😉 Also, please provide a water filter jug and some dry coffee creamer... these little things MEAN A LOT to a tired traveler when you're out of signal and a decent drive from the closest store.

Great home in redwoods

Great big house. Very close to howland hill road. Perfect for base camp to go hiking and biking in that area. House is large with plenty of room for decent sized family. Well stocked with most everything you'll need. Pans and cooking utensils on the low end.

Feels like home away from home!

Visiting the giant redwoods of northern California has been a bucket list item of ours for years, so we wanted this trip to be special. The trees did not disappoint, and neither did the Hiouchi Hideaway. The home is so comfortable, clean, and just the right size for any group. The Ovick's ensure there are plenty of amenities available in the home and are available quickly via vrbo messaging. If we could give more than 5 stars, we would. We highly recommend the Hiouchi Hideaway and we look forward to staying there in the future.

Absolutely perfect!

Our son chose this property so that we could all experience the redwoods area, and the location could not have been better for reaching all of the trails, the nearby river and the Pacific coast.There is a notebook inside where each visitor has said the same-just the best! The house is lovely, spacious, comfortable, and even had 2 bath tubs! Everything was there for cooking, they left us ice and coffee...it was just awesome! Thank you so much for a wonderful stay!

Massively spacious home with 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms and 2 family rooms (meaning 2 TVs!). Everything was in a fantastic condition. Surroundings are gorgeous. Close to Smith River and Hiouchi/Crescent City are a short drive away. Highly recommended.

Redwood getaway

The Hiouchi Hideway was superb! We enjoyed a fire in the backyard firepit each night. We had excursions to the beach and completed the Boy Scout Tree Trail. Michael was an excellent host and was always available. Great location, great property; we can't wait to stay here again.
