Castle in the Sand is a stunning 6-bedroom home that offers the perfect amount of comfort, making it an ideal getaway for you and your furry friends. Located on a quiet cul-de-sac, the home's soundside location offers a peaceful location for families any time of the year. Whether you're seeking a peaceful escape or an adventure-filled getaway, Castle in the Sand provides the perfect setting for making memories that will last a lifetime.

The top level of the home offers spacious seating in the family room, which is comfortably set up for watching the big game on the 50" ROKU Smart TV or lounging by the fireplace during the chilly, winter months. The large dining table provides seating for the whole family, and for those cool spring mornings, breakfast in the screened in porch located just off of the dining room is the perfect way to start your day at the beach. The large kitchen is fully-stocked and equipped for meals at home while the open floorplan allows for everyone in the group to be together and not have to miss out on any moments. A spacious top-level master with full private bath offers comfort and privacy all while being steps away from the main living area of the home.

On the mid-level, you will find four of the bedrooms in the home, all set up with Smart TVs. There are 2-shared bathrooms on the floor with tiled showers with plenty of space for guests. One side of the house is arranged with a queen bedroom, joined by a shared bathroom and pyramid bunk room, while the other queen is connected with a bunk bed and office set up to allow any work to be done, even while on vacation. The ground floor is where all of the fun happens! A full-sized pool table, arcade game programmed with 60 classic arcade games and a mini-fridge offer fun for the whole family, and with the pool deck just being steps away, there is plenty to do, rain or shine. The backyard offers a private setting, with a spacious yard and pool-side seating for all to enjoy while lounging in the pool (pool heat can be added for an additional fee.) or star-gazing in the hot tub.

Community Amenities: Guests of Castle in the Sand have access to the Villages of Ocean Hill Community amenities including:
Community Oceanfront and Soundfront pools (In-Season Only)

Beach Access: Head to the Villages of Ocean Hill oceanfront pool, located on Sandcastle Drive where you can access both the pool and the beach.

Heated pools are available Week Prior to Easter through Memorial Day and Labor Day Week through Mid-October.
Pools are set at a comfortable 78-80 degrees during the heated season. Please note that for optimal performance, outside temperatures must remain around 60 degrees or warmer. Various weather conditions such as wind speed and direction can affect the heat performance.

No Smoking/Vaping. Dog Friendly - Dogs allowed for an additional fee. Private pools open Easter through Columbus Day.

Community pools are open from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Dates and times may vary dependent on weather and pool management companies.

All reservations are offered to purchase travel insurance for an additional 7.75% of your rent and taxes. Please refer to the rental agreement you will be signing to accept or decline this coverage as your refund in the time of cancellation will be dependent on your acceptance in most situations. All guests must sign and return a rental agreement before reservations are confirmed. Payment for travel insurance, if accepted, will be processed upon receipt of this signed agreement.

Standard cancellation policy is: CANCELLATION POLICY and SUBSTITUTIONS - Any changes, including changing dates, switching of properties, or complete cancellations will invoke the cancellation policy. Agent recommends all Renters purchase travel insurance offered at time of booking to protect them in the event of an unexpected event affecting their vacation. Agent cannot offer future credits or immediate refunds for unexpected cancellations due to emergencies regardless of the situation, including but not limited to weather events and acts of God, unexpected illnesses, injury or death, changing of plans, or job loss. Please do not ask. All cancellations are subject to a fifty dollar ($50.00) cancellation fee. Cancellations must be submitted to Agent in writing (email is acceptable). In the event of cancellation, no refund of monies paid will be made unless the Property is re-rented for the same price and time period of this original vacation rental agreement. If the Property is re-rented for a lesser price or time period, the original Tenant will receive a refund for the difference between the originally agreed upon rental amount and the rebooked rental amount as Owner is entitled to receive the full amount of the original rental agreement. Agent will make every effort to re-rent the Property at the full amount. Tenant acknowledges that Agent has full discretion on negotiating rental rates in an effort to get the Property re-rented and make the Owner whole, while also attempting to get the Tenant the highest refund possible.

Great family house! Spacious and clean! Community amenities were a plus!

Great family getaway house. The extra bit of a drive up to Corolla was worth it - not crowded for mid-June! Still lots to do in the area. We enjoyed the community amenities! Beach access was very short drive and easy to get to. Note: kitchen was very well stocked with kitchenware, but spice rack, etc was empty. Bring spices from home if you are going to cook. Would highly recommend this house if water view is not essential!

Nice house, but needs more attention

The house itself is fine, pretty much what I expected for the price, but, the management company needs to step up its game. cobwebs all around ceilings and in low corners of most rooms, the sofa looks like a science experiment, in desperate need of a steam clean, jetted tub in master is labeled all around "jets broken- tub for soaking only", pool lounges filthy, all it takes is a hose?! weeds and dirt all around the hot tub and pool area. Also... be forwarned, we paid for a week of pool heat and our pool was v ery chilly when we got there, we tried to be patient thinking it just took awhile to heat up, on Tuesday,3 1/2 days into our stay, our pool maintanance person came to clean and check the pool, we asked what the heater was set on and she indicated the heater wasn't on beczause you need to pay extra for that, we told her we HAD paid extra 478.00 +-, she said "oops, I'll turn that on for you now, it usually takes 24-48 hours to heat up. We've inquired about a partial refund of that fee and have not heard back. Moral: make sure the company follows through on what you are promised.

The house was great overall! It had everything we needed for the most part! We were disappointed to have our check in delayed 2 hours due to cleaning delays. The cleaners only took 45 mins to clean the entire house and at first it looked like they did a good job but unfortunately it was just surface & the house wasn’t deep cleaned. Otherwise we had a great week!

Great house with EVERYTHING!

Fantastic house perfect for spring break - it has everything- heated pool, hot tub, game room. We had a blast - less than half a mile to the 4x4 beach access and right next to the Corolla Adventure Park. I bookmarked this one to stay again next year!

Great Location

Our stay was lovely and the location was perfect. It was fall so the beach was not our main attraction. We could watch the kids on the basketball, pickle ball, and basketball courts from the deck and we walked to the Adventure Park in less than 5 minutes. A great outdoor bar is walking or biking distance away as well. The house has plenty of room and the game room was a big hit with the kids!

Everything you need

This rental has thought of everything you need. Kitchen is well equipped for meal preparation. Games, DVD's and books are available for renters' use. Even has a football & basketball! Did have several issues. The area where the outdoor trash / recycling bins are kept smells horrific. Flies are terrible in that area and when you open the door to enter the house they follow you in. The one bedroom has an ant problem. Ants were crawling on the furniture and bed. The couch needs a good cleaning. Many stains on the upholstery. Overall the rental needs a good thorough cleaning. I understand the cleaning service has limited time to attend to it between renters but at some point it needs some attention.

Best time ever

There was twelve of us off and on thru the week. Best weather we have ever had during our stay. The house was great, the porches always had a breeze and loved the landscaping and pools area. We had two older dogs that had a hard time with the stairs but other than that everything was great. Kitchen was fully equipped and we did not have to use any of the stuff we always bring just in case. Also like being across from the fitness center, tennis courts and pickleball courts too.

Cozy and comfortable home with plenty to do bit be prepared for spiderwebs, swarms of bugs/wasp nest

Great short walk to beach and wilds horses and close to shops. In a pool and workout community. House has pool table, movies, a pool and hot tub. Three decks in back of house and two private decks for bedrooms. Those are unusable. No furniture and active wasp nests, mud daubers and spiders galore. The other decks have those also, but they are large decks. Overall, we had a great and memorable time together - my suggestion is just some outside maintenance to make the place just perfect!

Incredible

The best vacation we could have imagined. Property was fantastic and as advertised. Perfect for all ages. The children loved being able to stretch out in their own rooms. The pool and hot tub were cleaned while we were there, and the technician was friendly and pleasant and made quick work to not intrude. Short, scenic walk to the beach. Everything else could have dreamed in a vacation, we found in the Castle in the Sand. 100% satisfied and would recommend anyone having a first family vacation to look into this property. This will be one of our options for next year. This place will always hold a special spot in our hearts. Thank you for such a great experience.

Lovely OBX family vacation

Nice sized home, well stocked with all the needed amenities for a fun and relaxing family vacation. The outside could use a power washing for cobwebs but the inside was clean and bright. highly recommend!

Disappointing

Photographer deserves a raise. Pictures make rooms look bigger than they actually are. The showers in the bathrooms were extremely small. You could barely move in them. The house also needed a good powerwash. We couldn't use the screened in porch because of the web's and spider eggs. We had raw sewage come up in the tub and on the floor in the first level bathroom the first full day we were there and we were told it was because we ran the washer and someone took a shower at the same time ( too much water usage at one time). So, we had to take turns using water the rest of the week because we were afraid this would happen again.

OBX 2019 Vacation

Awesome house and great location- house was clean, comfortable and very well equipped. Hot tub & pool were very enjoyable. Access to Ocean Hills beach very convenient to either walk or drive . My grandchildren especially enjoyed the pool by the fitnesses center & turtle pond - large shallow area for the little ones! We were also within walking distance to Old Corolla Village, Lighthouse and the wild horse area. Lots to do and see. I highly recommend this house & location.

Sand Castle - not really sound front

Overall the home is nice. It is very clean, stocked, and well organized. It isn't really sound front as advertised. I would have given a 5 star rating had it actually been sound front and would not have encountered the issues below. Check In: The check-in process would be better if the management company would just send you the door access code and welcome packet to your email instead of having to stop into their office to receive. It would have been nice if someone from the property management office would have walked through the property prior to our arrival and adjusted the thermostats to a setting more fitting to summer temperatures. The home was 86 degrees inside upon arrival and took until about midnight to cool down to around 75 degrees. Also, there are 5 bathrooms and only 3 of them had toilet paper in them. It was obvious that there had not been anyone in the house for many months as a lot of the surfaces and dishes had a dust coating on them. A spring cleaning after many months of dormancy would have probably helped. Property access: The property allows access through an entry door next to the garage that is equipped with a code entry lock. Unfortunately the main entrance to the house and the door with direct Pool area access had double sided dead bolt locks on them that required a key. The property manager did not provide this key up front. I immediately called the management company and reported. The management company did come to the property and unlock these doors late the next afternoon. Grill: The grill is older and pretty basic, but works well. Unfortunately the grill was fairly dirty upon arrival. It had food chunks on the grill surface, and some grease build up. I preheated the grill before use and cleaned the grill surfaces resolving this issue. Grill mats and/or aluminum foil also helps with this issue. I was kind of surprised to see the pool guy servicing the pool on a Saturday afternoon. Figured this service would typically be completed on a week day.
