"It was just a very old building. The staff were great and the bar and restaurant were also very clean. The bed was not very comfortable and the water did not get very hot in the shower. We did enjoy the stay for the week we were there. "

Unfortunately our twin room was like an outbuilding in the car park and very cold (radiators didn’t work) with a lamp not working and a spot lamp flashing on and off. Reported to staff and they put an electric radiator in the room which took the chill off. They said they’d have to get an electrician out re the lighting problems. In the morning we could see that one of the windows didn’t close properly which would have contributed to...

"This is the first negative review I've ever had to give. We stayed at The Golden Lion Hotel St. Ives. (13-14 Feb) We stayed in Room 20 which was very small and had the constant, very loud noise of the kitchen extractor humming. On the first night it was still on at 10.45pm and we had to ask Reception to deal with it and then it was back on, waking us up at 7pm. Whilst we understand the extractor has to be in use, this has ruined our relaxing break. We could not have a lie in or return to our...
