"Off the main road which was good. We thought it was a nice, pleasant place to stay within a short drive of Chester. I would recommend this place to friends visiting the area. We were just a couple that stayed for a week whilst building work was completed on our house and found it competitively priced so if you are a group of 4 then it would represent even better value. "Breakfast was terrible value. it was offered as a continental breakfast but what actually came were offerings that did not include and cheese or ham or even a boiled egg. My husband discussed it the manager. There is a new menu on its way.Staff were all very friendly.There just seemed to be fewer around than on previous stays over the years.in general the hotel is in a great location. "The room was spacious, large beds, ensuites and a lovely big living space. The lighting was a bit dim, more lamps would be good. Small things didnt work well, ie, no bedside lights, front door wouldnt lock (except for the yale), a bulb was out, we scouldnt get the phone to reception to work and wifi didnt work either. Some of the blinds need fixing too. However, lovely linen, comfy beds, great location and quiet. "

"The staff are a mix of fabulous and awful - some were so helpful and efficient and could not do enough but others were rather rude and snappy. The whole place needs a bit of TLC - wonderful beautiful building with some fabulous public rooms, statues and artwork but needs a good clean for example cobwebs and dust everywhere, chipped and peeling paint. The outside area is filthy - get a jetwash and clean it down - cushions on outside furniture yuck. The outside area in the second building...

"Really beautiful location, very friendly and helpful staff, rooms have an amazing view and comfy bed. Really spacious bathroom for just their standard size room, and really powerful shower. The only slight disadvantage is that the room had no heating on but was very warm somehow, so we had to sleep with the windows open. The breakfast had a good selection of choices, and fresh eggs."
