Piney Island is the closest community to Assateague National Seashore, where our famous Wild Ponies run free. Whether searching for Ponies, beach combing, or simply relaxing, you’re sure to find your inner peace here. And, Assateague happens to be just a short bike ride or walk away from Shackeau East. The Community’s Natural Kayak Launch is right next door to Shackeau East, so be sure to bring your kayaks! Don’t have kayaks? No worries - we can help you arrange for kayak rental and have them delivered right to your door! You couldn’t ask for a better place to relax, rejuvenate, and reconnect with those who matter most.

As you pull down the natural Lane that leads to Shackeau East, you can smell that salty, sweet sea breeze, and hear the Gulls singing. As you enter through the Kitchen, you know you’ve made the right choice for your much needed Vacation. Kick off your flip flops, and let the fun begin!

The best way to describe this adorable Cottage is a breath of fresh air. Adorned in sunny yellows and beachy blues, Shackeau East has been completely updated, and is warm and welcoming - truly a home away from home.

You’ll love relaxing in the Living Area with Flat Screen Streaming Only TV and Free WiFi - not that you’ll need it with the breathtaking Views you’ll enjoy right from the sofa. Fireplace is NOT available for use. IF you haven’t been here, there’s nothing like seeing Snow Geese on the Beach during the Winter months! With comfy Furnishings and gorgeous Hardwood Floors, it’s the perfect combination of yesteryear and today.

The Chef in your family will love the well-stocked Kitchen with all you need to make mealtime a bay breeze. Dine in the comfort of the Central AC, or Al Fresco on the huge Waterfront Screened Porch taking in Views from every direction. It’s the perfect place to enjoy some fresh Local Crabs - or maybe some of our famous Oysters (or Arsters as you may hear us Locals say!). There is nothing like dining by the water’s edge - just imagine watching Assateague Light’s mesmerizing beam in the night sky.

Shackeau East is ideal for a couples getaway, or a small family, and sleeps 4 in 1 Bedroom and a Sleeper Sofa in the Living Area. Traveling with a larger group? Stoney Point is right next door - rent these great homes together to accommodate 12 people in all!

Brilliant blues and yellows continue in the Master Bedroom, which has a comfy Queen Bed, and beachy white furnishings. You’re sure to wake refreshed and ready to explore our beautiful Little Island by the Sea in the morning. The Full Bath is decorated with Colors of Sea Glass, and has a Walk-in Shower, and is convenient to both the Bedroom and the Living Area.
