This rental is nestled in a quiet residential neighborhood in mid-town Cannon Beach and boasts a central courtyard with a babbling brook. The sandy beach and Pacific Ocean are two blocks away, and downtown Cannon Beach is a half-mile walk away for dining, shopping, galleries, and coffee houses. Haystack Rock is a half-mile away and excellent for tide pooling, and a public laundry facility is two miles away.

The cottage was cute and basically clean, but not well kept. The heat was a very small portable heater that caused the power to go out a couple of hours after arriving. The power was still on in the bedroom so we just went to bed. The number I was given was either a bot or had never been to the property as the texter kept asking me to send a picture and to check the fuse box downstairs, there was no downstairs. It had an unusual smell too. I’ve stayed at the many, many times and the smell doesn’t usually bother me, but this one did for some reason. The place has potential but needs some updates.

Disappointing - DO NOT RECOMMEND!

We arrived at the property at 2:41 hoping to be able to get in early. I reached out to Vacasa and was told “regrettably no”. We stayed in the parking spot until 3:18, no one coming or going and asked again and was told no and that the key lock would accept my code at 4:00pm. Another family came early, we relayed our experience, but their code “worked” (cottage 5) approx 3:40 and they were able to get in. We waited until 3:57, tried until 4:02, and finally our code worked. While we were waiting in the small courtyard, one of the chairs had a crack in the seat (not usable), and the other one kept coming apart when leaning back. It was very frustrating. The cottage is definitely small. The futon was uncomfortable with springs or several hard things poking across the entire bottom area, I kept moving around to try to find a comfortable area to sit. My friend and I had to switch places to sit for at least one of us to be comfortable. The bedroom was so small, there wasn’t a place to put a suitcase. I could see that others had pushed the bed over (marks on the wall where the headboard was) and I could understand why. The bathroom walls above the sink had swelling to the walls and the toilet seat surface was peeling and looked terrible. The one night we did stay there (although I paid for 2) was not good. The bed was so hard and the futon was so uncomfortable. We hardly slept. We left the next day to a place that gave us the experience we wanted.

Not as pictured, dirty, and not manager not responsive

This is not a pleasant place to stay. The photos here are edited to make it seem nicer and brighter (the couch in the living room is grey/green, not orange/brown) and taken with a wide angle camera lens so it seems larger. It's smaller and dingier than the pictures make it seem. It's not well maintained at all, and honestly seems like they didn't really clean the place between guests. I told vacasa about this when we arrived, and they said they would follow up local management and send someone to clean, but we never heard back. More details below, but the summary is I wouldn't go back, and I wouldn't recommend anyone else stay here either. - Shower had a significant amount of mold and mildew growing in it - Carpet was covered in sand, white dog hair, and food crumbs - We found dirty dishes in the cupboard - There's no place to put luggage other than the living room. If you're staying here with 4 people, you have to put your luggage in the kitchen I guess - The sofa in the living room is bizarrely uncomfortable. Feels like springs poking into your bottom - It gets hot during the day in the summer and there's no fan or air movement. We opened the windows, and the breeze brought in a strong smell of sewage - The fridge seems to be having mechanical problems. There was a pulsating whirring/grinding noise - The toilet doesn't flush well and gets stuck running, and the bathroom sink faucet is loose/wiggly with poor water pressure I ran out of room to list all the other issues!

Unbeatable location

The location of these little cottages is unbeatable. It was super quaint and cute! Has everything you’d need for a weekend getaway for 2. I would NOT try sleeping on the front “sofa” - it was super hard. Definitely a pet friendly unit and smelled a bit like dog pee. We wished the gas fireplace was working but it they had just put a small electric on in front of the gas one, which was still okay. Overall, a decently cheap place to stay for a few nights. Just set your expectations correctly and you’ll have likely have a good time :)

Needs a lot of TLC

Property is over run by blackberries. Fences are falling apart. No screens on windows. Coffee spilled down side of kitchen cabinet and wall that did not get cleaned up. Duct tape on trim/floor at front door. Area rug old and falling apart. Cob webs in light/fan in bathroom. Dirty baseboards. Obviously wasn’t cleaned great. We had to repair the table leg as it was about to collapse and we also had to fixed the door knob as it was about to fall off as well. Speaking with the couple in unit 3. They said the flooring was coming up and they had windows that could not be opened at all. Property is in a great location but needs to be updated and repairs are a must. Totally misrepresented on vacasa and VRBO. Need to fire the housekeeper and property managers for lack of maintenance and cleaning.

So cute! I agree with some of the other reviews that its not really a 4-person place, the couch bed is too small for 2 adults. Luckily we had 2 small children on it and it was perfect for us fo a couple of nights. Such a great location to easil walk to the beach. Cannon beach is amazing and we will come back!!

The location is great. The ad said it sleeps 4 however it is good for 2 to 3 guests. Fortunately there were only 3 of us. Nice that it is pet friendly.

The most positive thing I can say is the bed was comfortable and the water was hot.

The cottage was rundown and the the future was falling apart. Like it had been furnished by a bad yard sale. The rug in the front room was disgusting , as was the bedroom carpet. The kitchen sink would not drain, I looked under the strainer and the drain was full of grass and dirt. Mold in the kitchen and bathroom window frames. Definitely would not stay here again.

Smelly and lacking in bed linens

The odor of dirty dog and pet messes was overwhelming upon entry. We opened windows and tried to make the best of it. Unfortunately, extra bed linens for the futon in the living room were not provided as advertised and though we called the property manager right away, they were never supplied. In general, the cottage was in disrepair and not well cleaned. Pet hair and dirt all along the baseboards, obvious pet stains on the carpet, light fixtures hanging off the walls, inoperable gas fireplace with some of the rock facing falling off and moldy window sills were among the items that led to a poor rating. Though the location was great and the kitchen had plenty of supplies, I would not rent this space again.

Love the spot but some matainence could go a long way.

We loved the location and layout of the cottage! Just a few things.. The cottage had a gas fireplace that did not work and some of the rock had fallen off the fireplace. If someone wanted a pristine location they would probably be upset. floor molding around the fireplace missing. Use of particle board in the bathroom that is being shown under the paint. A musty smell that could be easily aired out and a fan that didn't not work. We didn't care though. Great spot if all you want to do is crash inbetween adventures.

Weekend get away

We would stay again. Some units seem more updated and had a better fireplace then our unit. We enjoyed our stay and was close enough to downtown to walk and only a block from the beach. We will stay again.

The cabin is very small- clean with comfortable bed. In addition to the gas fireplace, there is a powerful heater in the bedroom and a small additional heater was also provided. We were still a bit cold but that weekend over New Years had record-breaking cold temps. Location was great, quiet but still close to the beach. Kitchen is very minimal and not suited to real cooking. Dog was welcomed with dog bowls and extra poop bags.

Great Location in Quaint Cottage

Loved our stay here. The proximity to shops and the beach was awesome. Super helpful to have two rooms with an infant and dog. Kitchen was stocked with cookware so we could make breakfast at home. The only tiny issue was that our trash filled up quickly (and with dog poop) and there was nowhere to take it. An outside trash cash for dog waste, or place to take trash would have been awesome! All around though - two thumbs up!

Nice property. Quiet and just blocks from the beach.

The rental process was ok. I had to call the morning I was to leave because the door key code was not sent to me as expected. Also my only dissatisfaction was that the furniture (couch and chair) were very hard, not comfortable to use at all. The bed was good and I slept well. But back from the beach in the evenings the sitting and visiting or watching tv wasn’t comfortable on the hard furniture.

We arrived at the property and the rugs were very stained, the kitchen had two burners for cooking and only one was working, there were no table knives available, only steak knives, there was no wine opener. The futon in the living room was very old and totally uncomfortable. Outside, the fountain was not working and green as if it hadn't been cleaned ever. There was dog poop everywhere in the grass. We picked up our dog's poop. All in all I was very disappointed with the place for the price. I expected it to be as the pictures showed and that was not at all the case. I can assure you we will never stay there again. The owner should take pride in the property and clean it up. It was disgusting.

Great little get away spot

Cottage was small but fine for the two of us. Great location, we walked all over town, just a block and a half from the beach and beach access. Gas fireplace was a little fickle, sometimes we had to turn the thermostat all the way down, wait then turn it back up to get it to start. Toaster should be replaced, had to keep pushing it back down every 15 - 20 seconds over and over to get our English muffins toasted. Overall, we totally enjoyed our stay. Great for the cost!!!
