You will be staying on a charming, historic residential street lined with Victorian terraces, perfectly balancing a peaceful night`s sleep with having the city`s best independent food and culture right on your doorstep.

You are just a 15 to 20-minute stroll (or a quick 5-minute bus ride) from the historic city centre and the iconic University colleges, but you get to retreat to a genuine, welcoming neighbourhood filled with artisan cafes, vintage shops, and a community feel you will not find in the standard tourist hotspots. Plus, Cambridge Railway Station is less than a 10-minute walk away, making arrival and departure a breeze.

Beyond the immediate neighbourhood, the best of Cambridge is well within reach:

Historic City Centre & The Colleges (15-20 min walk): Wander past Parker`s Piece directly into the heart of the city to explore King`s College Chapel, the cobbled streets, and the historic market square.

Cambridge University Botanic Garden (15 min walk): A beautiful 40-acre garden showcasing plant species from all over the world. A perfect spot for a tranquil afternoon stroll.

The Fitzwilliam Museum (20 min walk): Cambridge`s magnificent art and antiquities museum, housing everything from Egyptian coffins to Impressionist masterpieces.

One of the best things about staying on Gwydir Street is how easily connected you are to the rest of the city. Cambridge is compact and flat, making it incredibly easy to navigate, and you will find that a car is entirely unnecessary for this location.

On Foot: You are in a prime walking location. Cambridge Railway Station is a very easy 10-minute walk away (just cut through Devonshire Road). The historic city centre, King`s College, and the main shopping districts are a scenic 15 to 20-minute stroll away.

By Train: If you are arriving by train, you could not be much better placed. The short walk from the station means you can go from the platform to dropping off your bags in minutes, without needing a taxi.

By Bicycle: Cambridge is the cycling capital of the UK, and getting around by bike is the most authentic way to see the city. There are several cycle hire shops nearby on Mill Road and at the train station. You will also easily find app-based Voi e-bikes and e-scooters dotted around the immediate neighborhood for quick, fun trips.

By Bus: If you prefer not to walk, the Citi 2 bus runs frequently straight down Mill Road (just at the end of Gwydir Street) and will drop you right in the heart of the city centre in under 10 minutes.

Parking & Driving: Like most of central Cambridge, street parking on Gwydir Street is restricted primarily to residents. There is a pay-and-display car park on the street (Gwydir Street Car Park), but it is best suited for short stays. We highly recommend arriving by public transport, but if you are driving, please reach out and we can advise you on the best Park & Ride options or nearby long-term parking solutions.
