"I arrived at the Chantry Hotel just after midday. The proprietor was happy for me to check-in straight away. He was also happy for me to leave my car there for a couple of hours after I’d checked out the following morning. The hotel was very clean and comfortable and the breakfast was first class. My room was on the second floor - the second set of stairs was a little narrow but fortunately I didn’t have much luggage for my overnight stay so it wasn’t a problem for me. "The property was tastefully furnished which reflected its historical past. There was a spacious sitting room for use by guests and a kitchen equipped for the heating and simple cooking of meals. The tasty breakfasts were cooked to order with locally sourced ingredients. There was a small but pleasant garden with suitable seating areas. The staff were always welcoming, helpful and friendly. "The Westgate was easy to find and there was parking around the back of the pub as the town seems to have limited parking. The room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was lovely. The location is a 5 minute walk to the shops ."

"Lovely hotel, just the room had no main light so it was a bit dark, also the shower was nice apart for the temperature control, it was either cold or hot just couldn’t get a happy medium. Breakfast the next morning was really good."

"Beautiful decor throughout, very well presented & the stunning bath centrepiece topped the room off. Only slight criticism being the towels, which were hard & scratchy. The host Paul was extremely friendly & helpful, he also makes a top class full english breakfast! Great base for exploring this lovely part of Suffolk 😊"

"I was delayed so unfortunately missed Dinner service. The building is lovely and my room was clean, welcoming and very comfortable. I use hotels quite often and this is my top stay to date. I’ll look forward to staying here again in the future "

"Fantastic staff. Great room with decor. Very comfortable bed. Only let down by a very dirty, previously used toilet brush. Didn't get to try their food from their main menu as my partner was being very fussy and wanted pie and mash or sausages and mash and it wasn't an option on menu, but the breakfast was delicious."
