  • The Basilica of the Holy Blood is a Roman Catholic minor basilica in Bruges, Belgium. Originally built in the 12th century as the chapel of the residence of the Count of Flanders, the church houses a venerated relic of the Holy Blood allegedly collected by Joseph of Arimathea and brought from the Holy Land by Thierry of Alsace, Count of Flanders. Built between 1134 and 1157, it was promoted to minor basilica in 1923. The 12th-century basilica is located in the Burg square and consists of a lower and upper chapel. The lower chapel dedicated to St. Basil the Great is a dark Romanesque structure that remains virtually unchanged. The venerated relic is in the upper chapel, which was rebuilt in the Gothic style during the 16th century and renovated multiple times during the 19th century in Gothic Revival style. Bruges is the capital and largest city of the province of West Flanders in the Flemish Region of Belgium, in the northwest of the country. The historic city centre is a prominent World Heritage Site of UNESCO. Along with a few other canal-based northern cities, such as Amsterdam, it is sometimes referred to as The Venice of the North. Bruges has a significant economic importance thanks to its port and was once one of the world's chief commercial cities. The property is beautifully appointed. Every detail of the room carefully curated with quality products throughout. The hosts were exceptional. The breakfast was a feast for the eyes and tastebuds - beautifully and memorably presented. Could not recommend highly enough.

What a special bed and breakfast! Vania and Peter have carefully put thought in all aspects of their space. The room was spacious, modern, and cosy, and the bed was one of the most comfortable I’ve ever slept on. The breakfast in the morning felt like it was made with love. Shout out to Peter for making a last minute dinner reservation for us outside of town! We wish we could have stayed longer and will definitely be back!

Incredible decor, rooms are spacious! The lounge areas are flawlessly designed and breakfast is the most incredible experience we’ve had in a while. Bedroom had huge bed and lovely bath! The personal touch from the couple that run it are just wonderful. I would stay here again! The only negative I have is the hallway is a little noise with people coming and going at night. Although only 4 rooms so unless you’re a light sleeper like me you wouldn’t know.

From the minute you walked in the door, you knew you were in for a treat. The building, which was recently renovated, is beautiful with lovely decorations in every room Our room was comfortable with everything needed to make our stay complete. Bathrobes, slippers and drinks were offered to the guests. Vania was a delightful host. She offered us dinner suggestions, tour information as well as bus locations. She also shared with us the history of this historic building. We knew that breakfast was included but we did not expect the treat that was waiting for us in the morning. Visually the offerings were stunning. Every little detail was thoughtfully placed on the table. The food was delicious and plentiful. Thank you for making our short stay in Bruges so delightful We will definitely recommend you to our friends back home.

I booked this B&B quite last minute, but was so amazed at what I walked in to! I entered a beautiful, quiet, zen classic meets modern aesthetic with a beautiful bed, windows across the wall, an open style bathroom with a soaking tub in the middle of the room. There was also an upstairs sitting area with a television as well as a tv downstairs in the main bedroom/bathroom area. Everything worked perfectly--from the shower to the sink, to the heated floors, the soft close doors to the toilet, and lighting. Impeccable. The owners have perfectly renovated the building and it is full of style, grace, humility, and beautiful design details. In the morning they serve a gorgeous fixed breakfast in the solarium. It was a truly special experience, that makes me want to visit Brujes just in order to stay here again.

Beautiful place and excellent location

This B&B was absolutely beautiful! From the moment we arrived, everything was designed to make us feel welcome and at home. The rooms were incredibly spacious, and the bathroom was huge and tastefully decorated. The cozy living room area was a perfect place to relax, with complimentary drinks and snacks adding a thoughtful touch. Breakfast was a true highlight, an impressive spread featuring a variety of delicious treats. The owners were exceptionally warm and accommodating, making our stay even more special. The location was ideal, close to everything, yet tucked away from the noise and crowds. If we ever return to Bruges, we will absolutely stay here again. Highly recommended!
