This hotel needs refurbishments

Our room was tight - not enough seating or place to set down luggage or spread things out. Bathroom just about adequate. TV and entertainment were both extremely bad. A small unresponsive monitor with about 20 channels (a basic garbage mix too). Felt like such a plainly-in-sight ripoff. Other things about the hotel also suggest unnecessary stinginess. We stayed for three days and we only got one sachet of coffee each day. This is an old school kind of hotel. The most notable thing was daily housekeeping. Aside from the coffee, it was good to have someone clean up and tidy the room. I think the staff in the hotel are quite nice. Unfortunately for us we got about the worst check-in experience of our entire road trip. Unfriendly guy (which I honestly don’t mind) who took forever to check us into two rooms. First refused to take the two IDs I offered him for the two rooms. Insisted I spell out the names. Then took the IDs and took 15 minutes to check us in. When I enquired about parking the only option he offered was hotel parking at $88 a day when public parking is available closer at $38 a day.. The check-in staff are the face of the hotel. This was our second time at the Handlery. We like the location and we paid extra to stay here. But we felt let down by the room we got and the treatment at check in. So, not again. No hard feelings though. The other hotel staff were happy to take our remaining supplies off our hands. Rice, ramen, paper plates, bug and bear spray etc.
