Everything about the hummingbird is faultless. If you are coming to boca don’t hesitate to stay here. The beach is out of this world sometimes we had the whole beach to ourselves. Great rooms with the sound of the waves lulling you to sleep. The staff are all fantastic as is the food. We only stayed for three days and wish we’d booked for longer

Amazing stay in the jungle by the ocean

Everything was amazing - beautiful bungalow in the jungle on the beach, crashing waves, great food and service.

Absolutely amazing stay at The Hummingbird in Bocas del Toro. The property is beautiful, peaceful, and perfectly designed for relaxing. The rooms, pool, and overall layout are stunning. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, and the food was absolutely delicious. The location is also perfect, just across from the beach, making it easy to enjoy walks and nearby beach bars. A perfect place to unwind. Highly recommend!

Gary and Betsy were fantastic hosts. The facility is very well maintained and clean and perfect for a relaxing vacation. The food was excellent and happy hour/ drinks at the bar was always enjoyable, meeting other locals and vacationers.

A perfect oasis with great attention to detail - the team are dedicated to making your stay super special. The rooms have been thoughtfully designed and the overall ambience is one of relaxation and unwinding. The restaurant and food (quality and service) is second to none. Would highly recommend this for a wonderfully peaceful and enjoyable stay

Excellent place to stay

We were a group of friends staying for 4 nights and we absolutely loved this place. Betsy and team were incredible, nothing was too much trouble. The food was excellent (breakfast and dinner) and great cocktails! The rooms are amazing - never slept so well.

Wonderful spot!

Betsy and Gary made us feel so welcome and we enjoyed chatting with them. The property is beautiful and just across the road from the beach which we had nearly to ourselves.The hammocks were also a nice place to hang out. Breakfast was nicely done and served to the table. A great place to stay for quiet and relaxation!

We had an amazing adventure at the Hummingbird this past week. The atmosphere was breathtaking and surreal. Literally being in the jungle brought so many lovely sights and sounds- although it was a little noisy at night which some may not like. The food and drinks were outstanding as well and reasonably priced. The staff- Olivia, Aaron, Jeremy, Luis and others treated us like family. The pool was clean as was our room. The beach is gorgeous and quiet. Great beach to walk in solitude for miles. Waves are big this time of year so don’t expect to swim too much. Great little bars and restaurants along Bluff beach as well. The weather was a little rainy this time of year but that meant it was quieter in the area. If you want a quiet escape- this is the perfect place. We hope we are lucky enough to return one day!

Mycket trevligt värdpar som bjöd på sig själv. När vi frågade efter mackor att ta med oss på promenader var det inga problem de fixade. Goda middagar. Trevligt poolområde. Vi är supernöjda.

Betsy and gary run an incredible hotel with stunning surroundings and excellent staff. They provided anything we needed. Great food for breakfast and dinner, a beautiful property to see all kinds of flora and animals, Including monkeys. They also were able to arrange transportation for us when our flight changed last minute. Couldnt recommend this place enough. Beautiful and comfortable.

Betsy & Gary were the best hosts! They took pride and explained everything from day one at their jungle oasis. The rooms are jungle treehouses with howling monkeys, birds, and the sea crashing in. Their food is absolutely delicious and rotates daily with hip intl staff and guests you can't go wrong. 5 Stars from Brad & Katya. Just LOVE for The Hummingbird. xoxo

Staff were so friendly and kind. They were simply amazing. The food was really top notch. The fried shrimp was excellent on the appetizer menu. Everything was well seasoned and fresh. The rooms were spotless. The windows are screened but no glass, so you can hear the birds, monkeys and the ocean. Modern conveniences in a super relaxed environment. The grounds are immaculate, they take great care of the flora and there are many hummingbirds and butterflies. The beach is beautiful, but the waves were too rough for swimming this time of year. Try the Chinese food next door at the Playa, Stephanie and her staff were also excellent. The only downside was that we could not stay longer.

Highly recommended – great location on the beach; a few mins drive from town but a real ‘off-the-grid’ vibe from those looking for peace & quiet. Room was good; lack of AC was not an issue for sleeping as it was cool at night (might be more of a concern if you were planning to spend time in the room during the day, but why would you in such a beautiful location?). Nice pool and pretty quiet the whole time we were there as there are only a few rooms/guests. Food for lunch & dinner was very good; if we had one niggle it would be the breakfast which was pretty basic and not geared up for vegetarians (one of us is vegetarian and was initially just offered toast for breakfast one morning). Olivia the manager was fantastically helpful when we had issues with a cancelled flight and were being given the run-around by the airline.

Lovely place

Stayed in the one of the semi-detached bungalows. Very comfortable with an amazing view. Pool was lovely. Loads of Hummingbirds around so it warrants the name! The food in the restaurant was ok but not very memorable but there are 2 alternative options within walking distance - we only tried one which was much better. There's just one option for breakfast which did change every day. As there are no windows you and your neighbours can hear everything. Unfortunately we had a very loud couple next to us who kept on talking loudly every day and also till very late in the night. In the end we had to tell them to be quiet which worked only up to a certain level.

inolvidable

hospitalidad, amplitud, buen gusto, calidez, relajación, buena atención, cordialidad, comodidad en camas y en general... es todo lo que un espera en un viaje. Gary y Betsy están atentos a todo y nos hacen sentir como en casa. Se lo han propuesto y lo han logrado. Felicidades por ello.

I had a wonderful 2 night stay at The Hummingbird. I stayed in one of the bungalows, which was beautifully decorated and very comfortable. Betsy and Gary were very welcoming and made sure all my needs were met and exceeded. They arranged all my transportation as well as a boat tour around the islands. They were also very accommodating to my vegetarian diet at the restaurant. The food was delicious as were the drinks! I only wish I had stayed longer! Wonderful trip!

Wonderful place

Awesome. Incredible hosts and staff. Originally we were going to stay 5 days and move on but decided to stay another 5. We woke each morning to howler monkeys and wild parrots greeting the day. Food is great and the service friendly and attentive. We will be coming back. Place is off the grid but you really couldn’t tell other than no AC but the rooms have fans and we had no problem sleeping. Highly recommend Hummingbird
