Experience nature in a rural riverside guesthouse

  • Paretz on the Havel River near Ketzin is a historic village with only 400 inhabitants. Nestled in the unspoiled river landscape of the Havel, you will encounter flocks of wild geese and cranes here. Vast nature parks, meadows, and fields offer unique nature experiences—on foot, by bike, or by canoe and kayak.

    Anette and Bernd's 80 m² vacation home is located in the middle of this idyllic landscape and is particularly notable for its atmosphere and sustainable construction: walls and roof made of natural tiles, roof insulation with mineral wool, wooden windows with thermal glass, and underfloor heating ensure pleasant temperatures in every season. Natural floors made of sanded Solnhofen tiles, oiled wood parquet, and natural-colored walls with original paintings by Anette give the house its individual flair.

    On the ground floor, a spacious living room with a fully equipped kitchen invites you to enjoy convivial cooking evenings. The upper floor has a large bedroom with a double bed and another smaller room with two single beds. Here you can enjoy the almost endless expanse of the surrounding landscape from the moment you wake up in the morning.

    The outdoor area has three outdoor seating areas. Follow the sun from east to south – with a coffee in the morning at sunrise on the east side, a book in the afternoon on the south side, and a glass of wine at sunset on the west side.

    If you are looking for culture and adventure, the cities of Berlin and Potsdam are only about 30 minutes away by car. Public transportation is also within walking distance of the house and will take you to the metropolitan area at least as quickly as by car.

Our hosts welcomed us very warmly, and we immediat...

Our hosts welcomed us very warmly, and we immediately learned a lot about the unique architecture and interior design of the house, Paretz, the surrounding area, places to visit, and nearby restaurants and shopping options. It was the perfect start to a relaxing vacation. We immediately felt at home in the cozy, unique atmosphere of this lovingly decorated little cottage. If you’re looking for peace and quiet away from the hustle and bustle and traffic, surrounded by nature and the beautiful Havel landscape, this is the place for you. The charming village of Paretz, the banks of the Havel, and the ferry are all within walking distance. There are very well-maintained bike paths for varied cycling tours (Havel Bike Path). In Ketzin, you’ll find several really good restaurants, and if you like to cook for yourself, the well-equipped kitchen has everything you need. We were completely satisfied, thoroughly enjoyed our time with our grandson, and are happy to recommend the house and the hosts 🫶.

After a warm welcome from the landlady, she first ...

After a warm welcome from the landlady, she first gave us a tour of the cottage and answered some of our questions—for example, about public transportation. Overall, it’s a beautiful and wonderful vacation rental with plenty of space spread over two floors. The kitchenette has everything you need, a second bathroom is worth its weight in gold for four people, and the underfloor heating was very pleasant in the fall. For us, with two teenagers, the location was truly the best part. Right in the middle of nature, surrounded by water, and yet you can be in Potsdam or Brandenburg in 30 minutes, and in Berlin in 45 minutes. It only takes a little longer by public transportation. Culture lovers will also find plenty to enjoy. Paretz Castle is just a few minutes’ walk away, but it’s also worth just letting yourself wander. All in all, we had a truly wonderful time in the Havelland region, and this certainly won’t be our last visit! Many thanks to Annette and Bernd for the wonderful time!
