Truly the worst experience in the past years!
We booked this 5-star hotel for our 3-night stay in Barcelona and were so deeply disappointed. After traveling the world for the last 20 years, I know what a 5-star hotel should be able to offer.
Bed
After a long day, we wanted to rest in the bed and noted that the bed was a standard bed size. This means that, as a 180 cm person, I had my complete feet in the air over the edge of the bed. The width is also far from normal, not enough space for two people to sleep relaxed. Beware, when moving, you will hear the springs and bedframe noises.
Construction Noise
The location at the Ramblas is good. Unfortunately, construction noise directly at the hotel meant relaxing during the daytime in a 5-star hotel was not possible.
TV
While wanting to distract from the construction noise, we wanted to enjoy a movie. This was not possible due to the TV not having a connection. The called service employee could not fix the issue.
Refund
After elaborating at hotel reception, no solution was presented. Very unfriendly and impolite management. Still trying to claim a refund, but Hotel Bagues and Expedia both don’t seem responsible. Each party tries to blame the other.
Facit
We spent $1000 for a miserable hotel and had to rebook a new hotel to be able to sleep normally. This 4-star hotel cost an additional $500.
Hotel Bagues should not have a 5-star rating—3 max.
Expedia, you should take better care of long-time customers—you have lost us
