Kereru Cottage - private bach with sea view

Freshly renovated, Kereru Cottage is a delightfully quirky, cosy place to stay in the sunny Whangaparaoa peninsula, just 30 minutes from Auckland city.

Situated high on a ridge looking northward out across Stanmore Bay, you will enjoy the peaceful, semi-rural setting surrounded by trees, with a view of the sea. Kereru Cottage is a standalone building with its own driveway and garden, offering your own private space.

Suitable for families with young children, couples and small groups.

Come up the outside stairs and you enter Kereru Cottage through the sunny conservatory, which provides a warm and sheltered space for summer dining.

Inside, find the cosy lounge, master bedroom with double bed, second bedroom with another double bed, and semi-ensuite bathroom (accessible through either bedroom). The sofa in the lounge opens to provide a third bed if required.

A heatpump/air conditioner keeps the cottage toasty warm in winter and cool in summer. The lounge has a new LED TV with access to Netflix and Freeview HD.

The kitchen is equipped with an oven, microwave, tea and coffee facilities, and a dishwasher. Some breakfast foods, milk and basic cooking supplies are included.

Linen (bedding and towels) is included. A washing machine is located in the bathroom and free to use.

Kereru Cottage is fully self-contained. Guests have exclusive use of the first floor of the building. On the ground floor there is a separate unit where other guests may be staying. The garden and driveway/parking areas are shared between guests in the two units.

Your hosts live in the neighbouring property next door.

Choice of beaches nearby. Pool and leisure facilities at Stanmore Bay. Shopping at Whangaparaoa Plaza. Restaurants and supermarket up the road.

Native birds including tui and fantails frequent the bush around the property. If you're lucky, you might spot the namesake kereru (native woodpigeon)!

Special conditions: This property is strictly NO SMOKING anywhere on the grounds (inside or outside).

Hideaway Haven

Loved our stay, which was a lovely break for our wedding anniversary. Had everything we needed as well as a great relaxing atmosphere. Away from it all, yet easy access to everything, from shopping to beautiful walks and beaches. Truly restful, with lots of birdsong.

Stanmore Sanctuary

Everything about Kereru Cottage outdid our expectations. Beautifully presented and maintained inside and out with everythjng we could possibly need for our 6 night stay. Appreciated the comfy bed & cotton sheets. The surroundings of native & exotic trees frequented by native birdlife including ruru at night made us forget we were only minutes from a busy motorway. Would thoroughly recommend.

Tranquil tree house.

Excellent and friendly communication. Beautiful, peaceful location. Well equipped accommodation, bright and spacious. I was happy walking the down and uphill 30 mins to beach and used Uber for short trips. But had family car for longer trips. Would definitely return. Thank you.

Wonderful place in nature

After a 28 hour travel time from the US, coming to this house/cottage was lovely. It has everything you need to feel at home. We loved it! I was able to cook all our meals with ease and the refrigerator was big!

A lovely little cottage with a well equipped kitchen and beautiful outlook over trees and sea. This was a relaxing break that felt far from the city but was just a short drive to beaches, cafes, shops and even a cinema.

Great peaceful getaway

This property has absolutely everything you need and is very peaceful. You do need a car but its not far from anything and we would nip out and come back multiple times in the day. Can't fault the presentation or facilities. Works best for family with the Jack and Jill bathroom, bit close if you are not overly close. Thanks for the hospitality and hope the issue with checkout was ok, it didn't at all change my impression.
