Welcome to Mermaid’s Purse, a perfectly located north-end vacation home with just a minute’s walk to Palmetto Beach and a five-minute walk from the famous Pine Avenue boutiques and restaurants. This rental has two bedrooms and two bathrooms and features a private pool.

Friends and family can gather and connect in the living area, where they can make Anna Maria Island adventure and activity plans or sit back and watch their favorite tv show. The fully equipped kitchen has everything you need to serve delicious island-inspired meals and ample counter space that makes meal prep a breeze. Friends and family can enjoy a quick snack at the kitchen island and a cup of coffee on the balcony in the morning. There is a dining area perfect for delighting in the best Anna Maria Island take-out and a seating area under the covered patio perfect for enjoying bbq cookouts.

Relax in the colorful primary bedroom, where can catch up on much-needed sleep and delight in the sounds of the Florida palm trees swaying. After a long day of beach days and island activities, refresh in the first bathroom’s walk-in shower. The second bedroom is ideal for younger guests or single travelers and has an ensuite bathroom with an updated walk-in shower. Additionally, there is a sleeper sofa in the living room to ensure every guest gets their best sleep.

This property allows pets - there will be an additional pet fee associated. We cannot accept cats. *Please note that an additional non-refundable pet fee will be charged upon approval by AMI Locals.* Weight limit of 50 lbs max total for 1 or 2 dogs combined. *Please note: 4 cars maximum can park at this home. We ask our guests to please plan accordingly and coordinate with your group. There is no overnight parking available for additional vehicles.

AMI Memories

This was our first time visiting AMI, we have heard so many wonder things about the island. We booked this house because it was super close to the beach and has a pool. It definitely did not disappoint. The house was spotless and so clean, probably one of the cleanest rentals we have stayed in. Yes, it's a bit dated in some areas but that didn't bother us at all. Communication with the property managers was very timely and always helpful! We enjoyed being able to walk to many restaurants and shops of the evenings. We would highly recommend this cute rental, it's perfect for a small family or couple. We will definitely be back, this is a rare find for sure!!

Perfect Getaway

We have been vacationing annually at AMI for many years. This was our first time at Mermaid’s Purse and we were very pleased. Being a small 2 bedroom unit, it was just right for me and my wife. Our favorite benefit was how close to the beach. 170 steps from the front porch to where I caught my 32” snook! We have no complaints, but I would recommend updated sofa and chairs. These were not very comfortable to lounge in the evenings. The cookware is all stainless, so you have to be on your chef game if you want to whip up eggs and pancakes. Overall, our trip was amazing!

Nice Beach Home

A nice small cottage, perfect for a couple or small family. Clean and comfortable, just 2 houses away from the beach! Which was awesome! I do have one complaint is the sliding glass door, for me it was impossible to open. My husband did get it open, but then very hard to close. We just didn't sit out on the porch. It look like someone tried to fix it, but did a horrible job on it.

Location was great. Place is a bit dated. Kitchen is narrow and dark. King bed is not comfortable and bed seemed to be broken. Bath/shower for master is old as well. Better walk in shower for goest room.

PERFECT LOCATION

we had such a great time at Mermaids Purse! even though it was a little chilly we still enjoyed windows open listening to the ocean at night. perfect place to stay for the summer as its right next to the beach so no worries about finding parking. we will go back!

Mermaid’s purse

The location was perfect for us. Easy walking distance to restaurants and only steps to the beach. The host was very responsive and helpful. The pool heater was not on our first day, but a service tech was sent and it was warm quickly. The cottage was nice, but could stand some updating especially of beds and sofa which were not the most comfortable. The screened in front porch was a nice place to sit and relax and you could even see the gulf if you looked just right. Small additions to the kitchen like a pizza pan and cutter as well as a reusable coffee filter would be nice, but other than that we had everything we needed. My only real complaint was the alarm on the back door. I'm sure it is required, but it should have an on-off switch for renters without kids. The evening we checked in, I pressed the bypass button and was looking for the power switch so we could bring our luggage in. The alarm went off and blasted me with my head near it. My ears are still ringing two weeks later. I fear I have permanent damage to my hearing. I removed the battery for our stay, but I question the need for an alarm that loud for such a small house and the risk of damaging someone else hearing should be considered equally with the pool safety.

Wow!

I don’t want to brag too much about this cute little house because I want it all to myself every day! It was perfect for my husband and I and we didn’t want to leave. The beach access is so close and the pool was perfect. I didn’t win the lottery yesterday so I can’t buy the house but it’s perfect and everything you could want for a little beach house.

Great location!

This house is in a perfect location. 1 minute walk to the beach. They have beach chairs, an umbrella (it is broken but we found a way to make it work), and pool floats. Bring your hand soap, extra paper towels, napkins, and any seasonings. Otherwise you are good to go! Only enough room for 4 people. We loved the town and the fact that we never needed our car. Great restaurants nearby as well as a general store.

Just a few little things.....

This is a cute cottage in a great location, but there are a few things I would have liked to have known before our stay. If you plan to do any cooking, know that there isn't anything there to start with. Other rentals I've had a few things in the kitchen. Commonly coffee and salt and pepper. Also no facial tissue or extra toilet paper beyond what is on the roller. Another medium sized pot would have been helpful.

Loved location - 1 bathroom in disrepair

This is a lovely little cottage super close to the beach which made it easy to go back & forth from beach & use pool on property. We had some bad luck - 1 toilet gushed water from base from the 1st time we flushed it & also gurgled sewer water into tub. This rendered 1 bathroom useless & was a major nuisance (2nd bathroom only accessible thru another bedroom). We were told a plumber would come & repair, but only had a mgmt. person come take pictures. Very disappointing as it was one of our main prerequisites (having 2 bathrooms for privacy). At night we had to go outside & around side of house to separate entrance to 2nd bathroom. We were happy to pay the cost for this wonderful location - but expected to have the amenities listed available to us.

Great AMI rental

We've stayed on the island for many years and tried several locations. This was a great house for 3-4 guests with it's own pool, two bedrooms, close to stores/bars/restaurants, and very very close to beach. The house was clean and updated with what we needed. It's on the higher price range but hard to find a private home with a pool that close to beach that has two rooms and two bathrooms. Worth it!

Great Location

The house was exactly as pictured, and you cannot beat the location! Nicely decorated and in walking distance to just about everywhere we went during our stay. Perfect for our family of three. We had issues with the pool, but the property managers worked very hard to get it fixed for us. Which was not an easy task being it was Thanksgiving week. A new heater was installed, and we were able to use the pool on our last day. I do recommend calling and speaking to them instead of the text/email option. We found it was a better way to communicate with them and everyone we spoke to in their office was very friendly and helpful. We would definitely come back and stay again!

Cute Beach Cottage, just steps to the beach

Just steps to the beach, this adorable beach cottage was everything we could ask for and more! The private pool was pristine! It was the perfect way to relax after a hard day at the beach😉. We grilled out some days but we were within walking distance to the best restaurants on the island! This was our first visit to AMI and we instantly fell in love! In fact, we already booked our next trip!

We loved our stay! The location was great, so close to the beach. We watched the sunset every night. It was comfortable and clean and we got so much use out of the private pool. We will be looking to book this first the next time we plan a trip here!
