Relaxing log home on a private mountainside in Rappahannock County, Virginia

Relax, reconnect, and recharge at Poes Mountain Lodge. Enjoy the nature views and privacy that 50 acres provides.

The cabin is constructed with Canadian western red cedar logs. Enjoy 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, an open kitchen and living area, a large deck, and a screened in back porch. There is a stone fireplace that contains stone from the original cabin that was constructed in the late 1700s.

Enjoy local wineries, Skyline Drive (about 30 minutes away), venture out to DC for a day trip, or stay put and enjoy the house amenities. The sky has very low light pollution which provides a great backdrop for stargazing at night. We like to sit on the back porch in the rocking chairs and observe all of the wildlife that call the mountain home.

Everything stood out! This place was perfect for our early family Thanksgiving - we couldn't have picked a better place to stay. It was so warm and inviting. Also, we were lucky enough to meet Brian upon our arrival and he was so welcoming that it was easy to see why his house felt like home for us. We had everything we needed and honestly couldn't have asked for more. If you are looking for a place to stay in the Rappahannock County area of Virginia, I highly recommend that you choose this one. Happy Thanksgiving!

We loved this house so much! It was beautiful, comfortable, well-maintained, and full of fun things to do. The setting was a peaceful and quiet spot in the woods, with lots of yard space, a fun fire pit, and a gorgeous view of the night sky. Our teen and tween children loved the entertainment that came with the house, including frisbee golf and Wii Sports. The house has lot of fun things for younger kids, too, including a motorized mini-Jeep, a wooden train set, and a set of Lincoln Logs so they can make their own log cabin. The house came with every comfortable amenity that we could need. The property manager was very responsive and helpful. I'd give the place 6 stars if I could. We'll be back!

This place is beautiful, comfortable, clean, and well-appointed! It was exactly as advertised and we can’t say enough about Brian, the host! He was incredibly responsive and helpful. You could really tell he cared about our experience. He is truly a super host! We really enjoyed quiet evenings by the beautiful fireplace.

This is a beautiful, well-maintained cabin located in a quiet wooded setting that provides privacy and peace but is not too far from things to do and places to eat. It’s perfect for a girls weekend or a family getaway where you just want to spend time together playing games or talking and enjoying nature. The cabin is well equipped with anything you need to cook your own meals and the furniture is clean and comfortable. Brian is a gracious host and will make sure you have everything you need to enjoy your stay at Poe’s Mountain Lodge.

An absolutely gorgeous log cabin in a beautiful wooded, mountain location. Great adventure easily at hand, from Shenandoah National Park, to many good wineries, to lovely Northern Virginia towns. Best equipped VRBO kitchen we’ve been in and, most important, one of the best, most communicative, and helpful hosts. Poe’s Mountain Lodge is a most special place.

This is an outstanding cabin. Secluded on a large wooded lot, this actual western cedar log cabin is an architectural and visual delight. The rooms are spacious and well appointed. Many quality touches and thoughtful amenities. Highly recommended.

It is a beautiful log cabin with plenty of space. The back deck is huge. It is secluded with yard and woodlands. Plenty of indoor and outdoor games provided. Brian is wonderful. Very nice, helpful and communicative. Felt like home. I will stay here again when I am in the area.

Beautiful Cabin Beautiful Property!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this relaxing log cabin! The cabin is gorgeous, beautifully constructed, with a fully stocked kitchen, a wood-burning fireplace (which we used!), comfy furniture, and very comfortable beds. The cabin is sitting on a private lot surrounded by trees. It's perfectly located and within an easy driving distance of Sperryville, Flint Hill restaurants, wineries, shops, distilleries, hiking trails, and Skyline Drive! We saw tons of deer and wild turkeys. Brian, the host, was friendly, charming, and very accommodating to our needs. It was peaceful and relaxing. We will come back!

Relaxing & secluded

Brian, was a wonderful host, whom we had the privilege of meeting in person. He is so kind and generous and made us feel right at home. The house is very well stocked with all essentials and lots of room to move about. What a cool history the property has and it was just so wonderful and relaxing. I couldn't leave the house one day because I had to stay by the fireplace and read some more. Truly one of the best places I have stayed at. Thank you Brian!

Lovely getaway

We had an excellent time at this cabin. It’s well equipped with everything from kitchenware, to children’s games/toys, extra bedding, and an air mattress. The firepit and outdoor toys were much appreciated as well. The beds were comfortable and the house was well maintained. Would rent again!!!

Beautiful home on a beautiful property

This home was all we were looking for and more. Five of us (4 adults and 1 toddler) traveled to VA for a quick long weekend getaway to the mountains and we were looking for a comfortable and quiet home to relax in the evenings after hiking and exploring. This log cabin was both relaxing and fun! There were tons of toys for kids, a big backyard with a fire pit for roasting marshmallows, and board games/puzzles for both the adults and kids. The views of the trees and the feel of seclusion was absolutely perfect for our family. We’d go back in a heartbeat!

Beautiful, well-appointed home. Very responsive host.

This lodge was perfect for a weekend away for two couples. It's only a half hour from Shenandoah National Park, Marshall, and Warrenton - and it's even closer to Sperryville. We were very impressed with how well outfitted the house is, with toiletries, treats (e.g., Girl Scout cookies), wine tools (screwdriver, wine saver), and higher quality cooking equipment than we usually see at a rental. One member of our party particularly appreciated that there were nightlights placed throughout the house, as there's no ambient light. One thing for potential guests to note: there is a long, gravel driveway from the street to the house. In inclement weather, a 4-wheel drive vehicle might be desirable. Regardless, highly recommend this property!

Amazing weekend getaway spot!

This was our 3rd time staying at the cabin. It is a gorgeous property and very well maintained. The owners are very responsive and provide an excellent rental experience. We will return every fall!
