Staff members are mostly kind, friendly and helpful. There were two gals that seemed more interested in their phones and each other than guests, not at all what I’m used to in Glasgow, but honestly the rest of the staff more than compensated. The rooms could be enhanced with a mini fridge and/or a hairdryer but I think this is normal for the basic hotels in Scotland . I loved the idea of a free bevy if you choose not to have room service, but if two guests are staying, it would be nice to have free bevy’s for both. The room was clean though and provided the essentials so I guess that’s what I paid for and I realize accommodation in Scotland is very pricey, so I’m sure this hotel is as good as any other in this price range.

Point A was good, but not great. This is very similar to a Travel Lodge and it’s very much a hotel for sleeping and showering and that’s it. My room was quite literally the same size and layout as a cruise ship stateroom. Although I had two twin beds in my room, it would be VERY difficult to share this room with another person. I didn’t like the lack of privacy in the bathroom. The bathroom “door” is literally a pane of opaque glass with a handle bar on it to open and close. There is no latch to close the glass and there is no lock. If you shared this room with someone else, you would have to know them very well. I also didn’t like the shower door, it was very difficult to close once you stepped inside. The hotel does not provide separate shampoo, conditioner, and body wash in the shower. It’s an all-in-one bottle. The hotel also doesn’t provide Kleenex/face tissues so you’re stuck using the toilet paper to blow your nose. Additionally, my biggest issue was not having separate towels. The hotel provides two of the larger “bath/shower” towels and that’s it. They do not have separate hand towels and wash cloths. I really didn’t enjoy wiping my hands on a wet towel I just used to dry my body off with. My reservation was for four nights and I was locked out of my room halfway through my stay, which I didn’t appreciate. Apparently, the person who checked me only activated my key for two days. Overall, this is a no frills hotel for those who only need the basics.

The breakfast was extremely disappointing and offered very little choice. There were no healthy options available, which was particularly disappointing. The only egg option was scrambled eggs apparently made from a carton with double cream, prepared in a plastic container in a microwave. The presentation and preparation were very unappetising, and the overall quality was not what I would expect from a hotel breakfast. The atmosphere in the restaurant was also unpleasant. The kitchen staff were talking and laughing very loudly, which was disturbing and made it difficult to enjoy breakfast in a relaxed environment. The service was equally disappointing. On two occasions, a waiter removed my coffee from the table while I was still there, without checking whether I had finished and without even apologising. This felt very inattentive and unprofessional. Overall, the breakfast experience was poor, both in terms of food quality and customer service. There is definitely room for significant improvement.
