Malagash Oceanside Vacation Home

Enjoy a luxurious seaside vacation in this four-season house situated on a private seven-acre lot with panoramic views of the Northumberland Strait. Boasting the warmest waters north of the Carolinas, the private beach offers swimming with a rocky coastline for exploring and sea glass hunting. The property has 750' of ocean frontage to enjoy and both treed areas and open grass fields. Available 2 night minimum in May, June, September and October. 3 night minimum in July and August.

This property is centrally located on Nova Scotia’s north shore, just off Scenic route 6 (Sunrise Trail). The Sunrise Trail on the Northumberland Shore offers visitors beautiful beaches, seascapes, quaint villages and towns to explore as well as many shops, galleries, restaurants and golf courses to enjoy.

There is lots to do in and around our home. The Town of Tatamagouce is a 20 minute drive away. Full of character, Tatamagouche is a thriving seaside village that embraces quality of life along Nova Scotia’s Northumberland Shore. In addition to its proximity to several warm water beaches, Tatamagouche is a destination for those with great taste! As well as many craft stores and museums, the village of Tatamagouche offers full services to visitors. There is a hospital, dental office, pharmacy, grocery store, liquor store, gas station and bank. The Tatamagouche Creamery is home to a Saturday morning market as well as community festivals. In the other direction the Town of Pugwash is a 30 minute drive away. At first site there’s no question why the coastal community of Pugwash is world famous for peace. Its tranquil harbor close to beaches, pewter gift shops, seaside golf and vineyards make it the romantic destination it is today. There is a hospital, dental office, pharmacy, grocery store, liquor store, bank, Northumberland Links Golf Course and many craft and gift stores here including Seagull Pewter. Pugwash is also home to Windsor Salt which produces over one million tonnes of salt annually.

Local Attractions: With nearly 2 km of beautiful sand beach and the warm waters of the Northumberland Strait await you at Blue Sea Provincial Park. Just a few minutes down the road, the Blue Sea Provincial Park offers a beautiful wide, sandy beach and dune system on the Northumberland Strait. Park features include a change house and a small picnic area and short boardwalk to the beach. Birdwatching opportunities. Open seasonally from sunrise to sunset.

For the golf enthusiast, there are three golf courses within proximity. Northumberland Links Golf & Country Club in Pugwash, Fox Harb’r Golf and Resort in Wallace and Brule Point Golf Course in Brule. There are many more courses within less than a one-hour drive.

Located 10 minutes away, your vacation in Malagash would not be complete without a visit to Jost Vineyards. Daily you’ll enjoy wine tastings, vineyard tours, locally inspired gourmet fare at their Seagrape Café, and browsing a broad selection of wines and wine merchandise in the boutique. Relax by the cozy indoor/outdoor fireplace with a glass of wine and charcuterie board or enjoy a hike or bike into the vines.

From the moment we arrived until we left, our stay was fantastic. The kitchen is equipped with everything you need to prepare a full-course meal. We are a party of 6 women who try to spend a "long weekend" at this lovely home twice a year. Carolyn is very quick to respond to any questions or issues we have. The only thing to be aware of is -if you plan to spend time on your electronic devices, the cell service may be a bit weak. That was not a problem for us as we went there to enjoy each other's company. It is fun to see some of the wildlife that passes through and to listen to the birds in the mornings while enjoying a coffee on the deck. We are already looking forward to our next stay.

This home had everything we needed for our (group of seven) family ladles weekend. Cozy and spacious common spaces, well equipped kitchen, 2 and 1/2 baths and comfy beds. The house has a lovely outside yard with beautiful flowers and shrubs. Its such a peacful private setting with a view of the ocean right outside your door! With a lovely sandy Beach just two minutes down the road. This is our second year staying at this property. Carolyn, the host, is wonderful. She is always prompt responding to any questions, and very warm, welcoming and accommodating. Thank you, Carolyn, for another amazing and relaxing stay at your beautiful property. This is our 5th time staying at this beautiful property. The kitchen is well stocked. The sunsets and sunrises were spectacular. It is a great place to come for a weekend retreat with family and friends. Already planning our ladies weekend for the spring.

This is a lovely home with a well equipped kitchen, nice bedrooms, and a deck where you can sit for hours looking at the water, chatting, and listening to the breeze in the trees. Very close to the swimming/walking beach. The dining room and living room provide great venues for long conversations. We had a sibling reunion, and all three of us enjoyed the property.

Once again we had a lovely stay at this beautiful home. We were a group of 6 ladies this time, most of us over 80. We played several card games, ate tons of food and laughed a lot. We all slept well in the comfortable beds. The kitchen is stocked with all the utensils you need to cook with. The large deck has great furniture. It was beautiful weather for June so we were able to have coffee on the deck every morning. We saw several deer including a newborn. Unfortunately, we did not get to see the mother bear and her cubs this year. If you are looking for a quiet place to stay for a family gathering, this place could be what you are looking for. Carolyn is great to deal with and is quick to respond to any questions. We plan to return this fall. It has become our home away from home.

When we drove up and saw the house it exceeding our expectations. We felt right at home and everything was clean and the beds were comfortable. After just coming from Hubbard where we home bound because the Hurricane Lee it was so nice to look at the window and the water was calm. The road into the house is rough and many pot holes, but it was worth the trip. Canada is taking recycle to another level, but its great when the house was supplied with garbage bin and label. We had a great time at a great house. Thank you!!

This place is a little piece of heaven. Very spacious but cozy all at the same time. The house is equipped with everything you would ever need. The property is in a lush, peaceful and private setting overlooking the ocean. Does it get any better than that? Our family group of 7 ladies had a wonderful time, enjoying the quiet surroundings, beach combing and watching the seals out our front window. Carolyn, the host, was wonderful to deal with. Our group consisted of 8 women (family and friends)ages 49-90 who love to get together for a few days of good food, great laughs and lots of card playing. We couldn't ask for a better place. We loved watching the seals, deer and raccoon family. Some of us even got to see one of the bears. Carolyn is a fabulous host and there is everything you need to set up and feel at home. Thw kitchen is well stocked with everything from a lobster pot to a cork screw. This is our third time staying here and we plan to come back in the spring. Amazing view - the beach was rocky but nice just needed water shoes. Loved having two full baths and one half. Lots of items are stocked in the house - everything was easy to find. Loved having a dishwasher. Saw some deer; porcupines and seals. We visited the brewery and the Jost winery. Everyone enjoyed their stay and we would definitely go back again.

The house and setting was perfect for our family/ friend vacation. Plenty of space for all to sleep. The view of the water from the house windows and deck were amazing! Kitchen was stocked with plenty of utensils and equipment. The pool table was a hit with the kids during the rainy days. The walk to the water front from the house was easy and enjoyable seeing the tidal changes. Carolyn was accommodating, friendly and helpful!

Great property, Carolyn was excellent to deal with, there is no shortage of items to use at your disposal. Unit is clean and comfortable, a little challenging for someone with limited mobility but I managed, would be perfect with a walk in shower but both of the full bathrooms had tubs. Our only complaint was the weatherman, he didn't seem to understand our request for Sunny weather

First, Carolyn is an amazing host, communication was excellent! I have never stayed in a home that was so well stocked! Some food items, essentials (eg toilet paper) kitchen items (sieves, tons of utensils, cutlery, pots, pans, baking items) I can't think of anything that was missing. Home was spotless! We enjoyed two deer and a bear, lovely sea views and sunsets, all in the backyard. Tatamagouche is a lovely little town with some good restaurants. The Jost Vinyards were great with wine tasting and a cafe. The Blue Sea Beach just a short drive up the road was beautiful and Sandy. Great place for a picnic. Don't hesitate to book here. Great place to get away from it all and relax.

We had a great stay at this property. We were a group of 6 retired ladies and there was plenty of room for all of us . The property is very clean and Carolyn was great to answer any questions we had. Some of us had some walking limitations so we weren’t able to go on the beach. There is a lot of rock. But we had a great time here.

This property is everything and more that the vrbo site says. Our stay was more than comfortable and relaxing. The property is very private on multi acres of land, treed and colorful with superb water views. The home contains all that one needs and everything was easy to find. We had some minor trouble with the television and a finicky internet password, but a co-host was available to help troubleshoot and we were all happy campers. The location is lovely with the Jost Winery only 10 minutes away, A spectacular sandy beach (Blue Sea Provincial Park) minutes away. Townships as short and scenic drive away with many amenities. Our host was remarkable! Carolyn could not have been more hospitable and understanding of our needs. Her communication and flexibility made our stay that much more welcoming. This is a must stay property! We will be certain to return and are already talking about booking for a few times and lengthier stays next year. Thank you Carolyn. Thank you Shanda! See you soon!

Our family needed a quiet place for a break and found it at this Malagash home. Great rocky beach, lots of trees. Pool table provided hours of entertainment. We did have ongoing internet issues but the host was quick to respond. Home was well stocked. A few odds and sods in drawers and cupboards felt a bit out of place, but appreciated extra towels, dishsoap, and other items available. Thank you Carolyn !

This is our second stay at this lovely house. Seven women got together for a weekend of card-playing, laughter, and of course lots of food. Carolyn was great to respond if we had any questions or concerns. There are lots of cooking utensils there. The back deck is a great place to sit and have morning coffee. The ladies were all asking when we were coming back again. Maybe we will return in the spring. Thanks, Carolyn for providing us with all we needed to have a great weekend.

We were 3 senior couples looking for a place to relax together between days golfing. This house was spacious and comfortable. Kitchen very well equipped with dishes and cookware. The property is large with a view of the strait between the trees. The mosquitos were hungry, but hopefully not a regular feature. It was a very good fit for our needs.
