HoriZEN house is the perfect place to relax, unwind and find your inner zen.

This pristine ridge top home is set in a very private sanctuary of peaceful living and provides jaw-dropping mountain and valley views. This lovely 4 bedroom, 3.5 bath house features an incredibly equipped kitchen, a wood burning fireplace, a furnished deck and a hot tub.

The location is perfect for exploring the Blue Ridge Parkway and is close to the Appalachian Trail. Use the provided flashlights to hike the nearby Blue Ridge Tunnel trail. Drive 3 miles down the Parkway and hike up Humpback Rock. If you're here during winter, have fun at “The Plunge”, Virginia’s largest tubing park, or enjoy skiing at Wintergreen Resort. Year-round excitement awaits whether its hiking, skiing, antiquing, visiting wineries or breweries or going to a UVA football game! HoriZEN House has it all!

One of the attractions of our HoriZEN home is the wilderness setting. Living surrounded by nature can put you in close contact with creatures great and small. Everything from bears, deer, snakes outside to lady bugs (no matter how fastidious the cleaning) inside can be encountered. Please make sure all doors and windows are closed and secured when entering or leaving the house and be observant of your surroundings when enjoying this bucolic setting! Do not leave food in your parked vehicle. Lock your car doors because the bears can get into unlocked doors and cause costly damage, which owners are not responsible for. Life in the mountains!

Oh my god this place is AMAZING. Lisa was just beyond words with everything in the house to her communication before/during arrival. The views are spectacular, it’s so peaceful and the best place to go to just get away from it all. Managed to get to some nearby wineries/breweries/distilleries as well, so it was the perfect balance.

What a gorgeous property! Lisa was a nice host and very responsive the questions. The home was well equipped for our group’s stay, and very clean and comfortable. Our group of 8 friends had a fabulous time, enjoyed cooking in the kitchen, singing in living room with perfect fire pit, and relaxing in the hot tub. Very very beautiful sunrise view from deck too!!

It was one of the most beautifully decorated places I’ve ever stayed at! The views were astounding, hot tub was a big bonus, and very convenient to wineries & breweries. The host was very kind & accommodating. I definitely want to go back. If you go over holidays, check out the lights at Veritas Winery.

The house and the views are amazing! There were 7 women for a long girls weekend. The house was clean, well stocked with towels, and well stocked kitchen. The owners also provide all toiletry items you may need. Also had games and puzzles, coffee, tea and keurig cups. The hot tub was a nice treat. Had some beach towels. Loved the sunrise and sunset views. Do yourself a favor and get up early enough to see the sunrise.Close to many wineries. We got a ride service to take us around the wineries. Reliable Rides (recommend!). We really liked all the wineries we went to (Afton, Veritas, Pollak, and Chiswell). There are beautiful paintings throughout the house, many of which the owner did.Would definitely recommend this house.

We absolutely loved staying here, the views were even better than the photos. The kitchen had everything we needed and was a pleasure to use, the dining room and living room were very comfortable, and the bedrooms were very cozy. I also loved the art within the house, it feels very loved and I'm definitely planning on coming back!

Splendor in the Mountains

The views from this beautifully furnished and well-outfitted home are absolutely spectacular. We immediately felt at home and well-takrn care of by the gracious hosts. Attention to detail is evident at every turn. Social spaces and beds are very comfortable, and both decks are spacious and inviting. The 2 master bedroom suites are positively exquisite! Weather did not cooperate regarding a sunrise experience, so I guess we will just have to come back!! Here's hoping

This is our second stay at HoriZen. Everything about the house and surrounding area gets a 5-star review from us. The house is beautifully appointed and generously stocked. The views are breathtaking. We enjoyed some time at Blue Mountain Brewery, Wild Man Dan's and Veritas. All great! We will return!

Wow! Best VRBO we have ever stayed in.

Lisa's home was incredible. Our family vacations in many VRBOs every year, and this was hands down the best house we have ever stayed in. The photos do not do it justice. We enjoyed the art, cleanliness, and thoughtfulness in the home's design. The master bedroom on the main floor was perfect for my in-laws, who have difficulty with stairs. Downstairs was ideal for the younger members of the family. The kitchen was equipped with everything we needed to host dinners with family. Every detail had been thought of - from coffee makers on both floors - to toiletries available in every bathroom in case you forget anything. The expansive mountain views are the best part of this stay. We didn't want to leave!

Wow, wow, wow!

We had an amazing time at Horizen House for our 20th wedding anniversary! The views are AMAZING! We loved the owners gorgeous artwork throughout the house. We loved how secluded the house was yet so close to restaurants, breweries, and wineries. The proximity to overlooks and hiking trails was unbeatable! We are so happy we saw this rental property and we hope to be back again!

Incredible weekend stay

You should stay here. Lisa was a wonderful host. She was responsive and friendly. The property itself is incredible - words and pictures don’t do it justice! Soak in the beauty around you and enjoy. We went in the winter and 4wd was very much required (as noted).

Fun in the New Year

As mentioned by others, this place is an oasis—lovely decor, must see views of the Blue Ridge Mountains, cozy and spacious, and close to a ton of year-round activities— skiing, hiking, wineries, breweries, etc. Our family only stayed two nights to ring in the New Year, but hope to be back to stay longer. Hosts thought of everything with this place— from the toiletries, to the comfortable, high-end linens and original artwork. Everything you could ask for! .

Best property I've rented!

The photos of Horizen undersell the fabulous views and the house itself. The owner has lovingly furnished the house with comfortable furniture, linens, beautiful artwork, and every appliance you might need. Coffee, creamers, spices, and condiments are also provided, as are travel-size personal items in case you've forgotten something. Firewood for the wood-burning stove is also provided - a good thing, too, because we had temps in the teens and didn't want to rely solely on the house's heat pump (which works fine, and the house is well insulated). Lisa also had a Christmas tree, which made this Florida family's wish for a cozy, chilly pre-holiday complete! I highly recommend this house for your next mountain vacation.
