This unique property provided a whimsical and meaningful getaway for my 80 year old mother and me, celebrating her birthday and Mother’s Day. Plenty of space, amenities are nice, and it’s just so darn charming.

One of our most unique sleeps ever and loved by the whole family! Lots to do at the property and I think we made use of about all of the amenities. Very spacious and we really enjoyed grilling our dinner while watching the sunset. Can’t recommend highly enough.

Fun house to stay in. Despite uniqueness of home, it has everything you need for a comfortable stay. We enjoyed the hot tub in the evening and a couple trip to York for good food.

Excellent stay, so unique! We loved the blending of original and retro style with updated amenities! Did not check out the hot tub because it was too cold, but game room/living area was a hit, beds were comfortable, and kitchen (although small) was well equipped.

It’s a shoe you get to stay in. What’s not to like? It was amazing to stay here. Clean, comfortable and so unique. Hot tub after a bike ride and fire pit were great amenities. Just do it.

Everything was perfect. The host was attentive. There was information about the history of the property. There were plenty of blankets and towels. The hot tub was a nice addition. It was a perfect girls weekend.

My friend and I (both in our 70's) were so excited about our stay at the Shoe House, and it did not disappoint! We loved the game room, complete with a kitchenette. It was as fun and quirky as you might expect. It's a little pricey, but it is an historical site and something you won't find anywhere else. Totally worth it! the Shoe House!

Lovely, unique place. My biggest complaint is for the price I expected nicer bed linens and bath towels. They are old, not very clean and needs updating. Otherwise, we really enjoyed it.

Highly recommend! We had a fabulous time staying here and learning the history! We spent our days exploring York and found great restaurants and independent vintage/antique stores. The house is super cozy and the hut tub was a bonus!

If we could give higher than a 5, we would. We are a party of six who have traveled together for more than a few years and we all rated this stay as our most memorable!! The beds were comfortable, the rooms were very clean, the kitchen is small but it is an absolutely grand room. The kitchen is very well stocked and the decor is absolutely beautiful. The memories this place evoked are so entertaining. Please stay - you will never regret one moment of staying in this wonderful getaway. The host is excellent - very kind, very responsive - what a joy!!!!!!

What a charming and memorable stay to celebrate my mother’s 80th birthday. In the midst of snow, winds, and below zero temps, we stayed cozy just absorbing all the historic details and relics in the home— from the books, articles, to antique rotary phone and phonograph, there was plenty to take in. We cooked in and found all the supplies needed, then had a fantastic night of sleep in the well- appointed bedrooms.
