Manganui Cottage - Western Lake, South Wairarapa

  • Manganui Cottage is situated on a South Wairarapa dairy farm, tucked under the Remutaka Ranges just off the Western Lake Road. After over 100 years as the home of farm owners and workers alike, it has begun a new chapter in it's history as a holiday home.

    This two bedroom cottage with a spacious living area provides peace and quiet while still being in easy reach of popular South Wairarapa towns and all that they have to offer. Ocean Beach is handy, Lake Ferry an easy drive, or make it a day trip to Cape Palliser.
    The cottage can be easily accessed from the popular cycle trail and is in close proximity to a DOC walking track into the Remutaka Forest Park.

    Choose to relax in the outdoors or enjoy the warmth of the fire indoors on a cooler day.

    Explore the local enviroment or venture further afield.

April Short Break

Our stay was eveything we hoped it would be. We ventured out during the say to Ocean Beach, Lake Ferry and Cape Pallisade. The beds were top quality and we all slept well. Hosts were super friendly.

Lovely rural location in comfortable cottage

Spacious cottage with everything we needed. Very quiet, comfortable beds, fireplace easy to use and warmed rooms well. Enjoyed greeting the cows and picking a few cooking apples.

Rustic little farm stay

Perfect little get away for 2 couples and our pooch. Comfortable beds, new shower (with great water pressure!) and plenty of drenched space outside for our doggo to run around. I particularly likes the retro furniture and quite. I also enjoyed the very limited cell reception, so was fab to unplug and play board games and cards. Would definitely stay again. Thanks Amore and Jess for a great stay x

Comfortable and cosy in a lovely peaceful rural setting

The cottage was perfect. Clean and comfortable with everything we needed, Great wood burner provided instant heat, comfortable beds, good hot shower. In a lovely sunny spot surrounded by bird song and delightful calves (I recommend a Spring visit!). Great fenced in section so our 2 dogs could enjoy the outside without supervision. Just far enough out of town to feel like you're in the country but only half an hour to the local towns and attractions. We had the best ever 3 nights and wished we'd stayed longer!

Super accommodating hosts with very cosy, quiet cottage

We recently stayed in this wee cottage for three months after selling our house and we honestly couldn't have asked for a better place to call home during this transition time. The cottage is super cosy with its large wood burner, well equipped kitchen and comfortable beds. The setting is quiet and peaceful and really feels like an escape from the rest of the busy world. Thank you so so much for your kind hospitality!

An outstanding South Wairarapa stay

This is a stunning rural location and the hospitality was exceptional. The house is gorgeous, clean and cozy with everything we needed. The bottle of wine waiting in the firdge was a nice touch. Top notch - side of the lake is a well-kept secret and long may it stay that way! Except - go there. It's worth it.

Bellbird cottage
