We felt we were discriminated against based on a family member who is trans. I reached out directly to express my concerns. Their disappointing response is below. I contacted Expedia who said they will look into it but will not provide an update so it feels like they are not taking this seriously.
From the Saturnia:
"We are talking about something that happened in 2025, that is, almost 10 months ago, am I right? It was a long reflection, I would say.
Our hotel does not discriminate in any way. We welcome people of all races, genders, and religions, and discrimination is not part of our culture. Our hotel staff is made up of people of all genders and religions. We have lived in peace with everyone since 1908, when the hotel was opened by my great-grandparents, and we have never received a message like this before.
Frankly, it is quite difficult for me to trace back to what happened in April 2025, but in any case, I can say with complete confidence that this can only have been the result of a huge misunderstanding. You must have misinterpreted something. I have no doubt about that.
We do not judge our customers in any way; in our eyes, we are all human beings/living beings, and that is the only thing that matters in our hotel always.
I don't think I need to add anything else, except to say that you should live with greater serenity, which is what we have always done with all our customers who have been coming from all over the world for more than a hundred years."
