Charming Cottage overlooking the square in Chittlehampton Village

Prospect Cottage is a two bedroom cottage in the lovely village of Chittlehampton situated a few miles south of Barnstaple in easy reach of the North Devon coast and Exmoor. The cottage is several hundred years old and has been renovated and offers excellent accommodation for up to four people. Situated on the square in the heart of the village, next to the large parish church and local school and 50 paces from the award winning Bell Inn which has a reputation for good food and quality beer. There is a general store closeby.

During the current Covid-19 crisis we have introduced additional practices after each stay to ensure our guests are as safe as possible, including cleaning and disinfecting all high-touch surfaces and cleaning floors, walls, blinds, and other low-touch surfaces with hot water and detergent.

We have also provided our guests with Antibacterial  wipes for hand and surface use, Tissues and toilet rolls, Antibacterial cleaners and Hand wash

Prospect Cottage has an open plan ground floor with kitchen, dining and sitting areas. Upstairs there is a master bedroom with ensuite shower room, second bedroom with twin beds and a bathroom. Cosy cottage

Nice cosy cottage, clean and tidy, only gripe was there was no dryer to dry washing. Other than that very good.you need a car as it is quite a way from the town in a rural location.we loved it and the bread cake and milk were very welcome thankyou.

Perfect in every way!

Comfortable cottage in picturesque village with handy pub and village shop a few steps away.Cottage is thoughtfully furnished with comfortable beds and sofas, and thoughtful touches such as tissues, ornaments etc.Very practical place to stay for visiting all areas of Devon without the price of a seaside property.

Comfortable and Cosy

Lovely decor and furnishings. Great to have the ensuite and a main bathroom with a bath. Plenty of space in the main bedroom. Walking out of the front door and seeing the magnificent Church was amazing.

Just what we were looking for

Lovely cottage in a nice village with a great pub that serves really good beers and the food is highly recommended. we were looking for a peaceful break with some good walks, you will need a car if you wish to get around but the cottage and the location ticked all the boxes for us.

A week of country life

The property fulfilled all our needs. It was comfy and quiet. Unfortunately on the last night our car, with French registration, was scraped all along the side. Clearly, parking in a public square makes one more vulnerable to such incidents. In every other way the cottage was beautifully positioned close to the church, and not far from the pub and village shop. Although we had cold, grey weather, we enjoyed ourselves very much.

Four night break

The property was ideally located close to local amenities. However you will need a car to get around if you would like to explore further out. The property has everything you would need for a short or longer stay. It is clean and tidy. We had breakfast one morning in the little shops tearoom. An evening meal and drink in the local pub. We would definitely stay here again if it was available at our chosen time. I had a question for the owners before we arrived and they replied quickly.

Perfect

The perfect cottage, between a church and the pub, in a beautiful village. A fully equipped, comfortable, quiet, relaxing break away from normal hectic life. Easy access to the coast and moorland with Gardens and National Trust properties not too far away.

wonderful cottage & location

A wonderful cottage located in the center of a beautiful village. The cottage was spotlessly clean with everything we required, the welcome pack was much appreciated too. 50yds from the village pub which is highly recommended but be advised to book in advance for a table especially at weekends. Central to all the tourist spots and all within each reach, the scenery in this part of the country is breathtaking. would highly recommend staying at prospect cottage.

A home from home

Moving to Chittlehampton,were looking for somewhere to stay for the first few weeks nearby and Prospect Cottage was perfect. We felt at home immediately, it has a cosy atmosphere with everything you need for a comfortable stay. The view looking out of the cottage onto the square is quite charming with the Church at the top the Bell Inn at the bottom and beautiful cottages in between. There is also a fantastic village farm shop, tea shoppe and post office just around the corner which can supply all your needs. We would definitely recommend a stay any month of the year in Prospect Cottage.

couldn't have asked for more

What a lovely cottage. Warm, comfortable and cosy and just right for our short break to Devon. It is so well equipped decorated and furnished that we wanted for nothing. The village is charming with its pub and community shop and a short drive took us to many attractions including the coastal town of Instow. We had such a relaxing time, and were even lucky with the weather, given it was a November break . Our thanks go to the owners who clearly want their guests to have a comfortable stay. We loved it.

One of the best

This cottage was one of our favourite VRBO rentals. Chittlehampton is a lovely small town; the cottage is right on the main square between the church and the pub; and the house is charming, clean, comfortable, and has everything we needed for a week’s stay. We would highly recommend this cottage to anyone who wants a base for exploring the SW of England.

prospect cottage

Wir hatten einen ganz wunderbaren Aufenthalt im "prospect cottage". Die Lage ist prima, der Ort zauberhaft und das Cottage einfach nur wunderbar. Uns fehlte es an nichts! Besonders herauszustellen ist, dass das Cottage sehr sauber war und bestens ausgestattet. In der Nähe ist ein Pub, in dem man gut essen gehen kann. Wir können diese Unterkunft nur weiterempfehlen.

North Devon Short Stay

Lovely setting in the square. Quiet environment with ample parking. We had a number of local activities in the square that livened up the evenings despite the dreary weather. Overall the stay was very comfortable in a well appointed unit.

Chittlehampton

Last evening it was wonderful hearing the church bells ringing — apparently the Bell Ringers practise every Tuesday evening. This is a great centre to investigate the surrounding area — lots of practice in driving on narrow country lanes! The house is well set out with comfortable furniture and ample supply of dishes and cutlery. We would recommend it highly.

Great in every way!

Really nice cottage, homely feel. Extremely well equipped. Welcome breakfast tray on arrival. Lovely location in the village square, with church, pub and village shop a few steps away. Great location and lots of great places to visit close by including the coastal towns of Ilfracombe and Lynton and Lynmouth, and fabulous beaches of Croyde and Saunton. Highly recommended.

Chittlehampton stay

We were lucky in our choice of staying in this village and at this property. It is accurately represented in the description and if you want to explore North Devon then it is an ideal location. The village is authentic, quiet and friendly. Both the owner and the property manager were easy to deal with. Would recommend.

Great part of Devon

This cottage didn't disappoint, it had everything that I needed except good weather. I loved the open plan layout which was ideal for the Bose radio. Lovely quiet village with plenty of good walks nearby. The "starter" food was appreciated as there is no local supermarket.
