This is an Honest Review of our stay October 2026. Upon arrival we found the main door was locked. There was a hand written note on the door saying the pub/restaurant was shut due to an electrical fault. Fair enough this is beyond the control of the hotel. A member of staff did let us in and told us our room was ready and not affected by the electrical fault. They showed us to our room and that was that. The Room was ok. The room was nothing special, it was clean and tidy with some general wear and tear. The bed was comfy and was quiet throughout the night. We checked out the following day. We weren't sure what to do with the keys as There was no members of staff about so we left the keys in the room. Although we had no real issues, we wouldn't stay here again.

Great staff and owners. Very welcoming. Property is dirty and scruffy in the communal areas/outside. Needs a tidy up and regular maintenance/cleaning. Would stay again due to service and food

Complimentary bottle of water was nearly empty, only one of the 4 pillows had a cover, unfortunately only realised in the morning, so didn’t dare check the bed. Such a shame as with a little more care would be a nice place to stay

Our room was spotless and very comfortable and all the staff very friendly and helpful. The bar area was welcoming and warm on a cold January evening and the beer well kept. The menu was limited and plain but again this was the low season with little trade

I had a lovely stay at the Exeter Inn! Michelle and Martin gave me the warmest welcome, and the whole place felt instantly inviting. I met up with friends from Bampton for dinner, and the Festive Christmas menu was excellent — beautifully cooked and full of flavour. I stayed in the Brook bedroom, which was immaculate and thoughtfully supplied with plenty of toiletries. A genuinely delightful visit and I’d happily return. Thank you !

Under new management with a lot to get around. Staff and manager very pleasant and welcoming to a very old, rather tired coaching inn. Good breakfast and evening meal.
