  • Come live the simple life:
    Not quite two miles from the Best Beach in the World, this lovely little home boasts an open floor plan with kitchen and dining area combined with a family room for easy and spacious living.
    The 1140 square foot living space was built in 1963 in one of Sarasota's most convenient neighborhoods, Gulf Gate. The master bedroom features a queen size bed, dual night stands, dresser and Smart TV. The second bedroom offers one twin and one full bed. A shared bath features a frolicking beach theme with a tub/shower combo. The second bathroom offers a stall shower and new washer and dryer. A new dishwasher, coffee maker, waffle maker and stainless kettle round out the well appointed kitchen.
    The paver patio out back is framed with Areca and Adonidia palms and offers time in the sun or tend to your BBQ on the gas grill. Dine out on the patio table and enjoy the breezes through the privacy palms.
    A single car port provides shelter for your vehicle.
    Walk or enjoy the beach cruisers into the Gulf Gate area restaurants, bars and shops, and continue on another easy mile to Siesta Key over the South Bridge. A quiet, tucked away residential neighborhood that is amazingly close to the best that Sarasota has to offer. Discounts available for 30 day plus bookings.
    This home is set up exclusively for VRBO. You will not be tangling yourself up in any one else's possessions. We've all been there, and it can be a little weird. The Half Moon House is a simple solution to your Sarasota holiday needs and operated with your comfort and convenience as our first priority.
    Please note!!! If you would like to reserve the Half Moon House for longer than 4 weeks, please send us an inquiry first. VRBO does not allow for a maximum booking feature, but we need to communicate with you prior to booking extended stays. Thank you!!!

The house was emaculate and the host was extremely accomodatining. Also the location is perfect. Walking distance to many restaurants and 5 minutes to Siesta Key beaches. I will definitely recommend this property to family and friends.

Great location and great host. Super accommodating to what we needed. Spacious for our group of 4 adults. Quiet and well established neighborhood close to many things, such as Siesta Key and Detweiler’s Market. Beach towels, chairs, umbrella and cooler available for our use. Nice outdoor seating area and BBQ. Would definitely stay here again!

Family visit

Very comfortable, clean, and well equipped. We enjoyed the front porch and back patio area.Good area to walk in. Felt very safe. Would stay there again. The host was very accommodating and quick to respond to any questions or concerns.

Great little house.

Local was great, close to beach, restaurants and everything Sarasota. House was very clean and had everything needed, especially towels. Less than a 10 minute drive to Siesta Keys beach, 20 minutes to downtown area. Having 2 bathrooms for this size house was definitely a big plus.

Half Moon review

We very much enjoyed our stay at Half Moon. We were here for the month of February. The neighborhood is a quiet, well kept area. It is easy access to restaurants, stores, and Siesta Key. Half Moon has everything you need to enjoy your stay. This is the most well stocked place we have stayed at in Sarasota. Rick is a very responsive host.

Great place in Gulf Gate

My family and I stayed 3 nights at Rick’s place. It was clean, comfortable, and close to Siesta Key. Rick provided great instructions and check in was easy. The house was filled with supplies to take care of all our needs. We had a great experience and would definitely stay here again.

What a great little get away!

We had a wonderful stay at this beach-themed home! The property was impeccably clean, and the decor truly created a relaxing, coastal atmosphere. The location was perfect for us, just a short distance from our daughter, who had just welcomed her second baby. It made visiting so easy and convenient. The home had everything we needed for a comfortable stay, and we felt right at home. Highly recommend this lovely spot for anyone looking for a peaceful, well-located getaway. The Host has every intention of making your stay a great experience.

great location

The cozy home has everything you need for a great time at the beach. The bikes were a blast, you can ride around the very peaceful neighborhoods, or to the beach. The management made sure everything was prepared and available to answer any questions. Great restaurants nearby. My husband and I will definitely be back.

Great home away from home!

Great home in a quiet neighborhood. Close to shopping, restaurants, and beach. Host was very responsive before and during check-in, when the coffee pot leaked he delivered a new one that day. The house was very clean and the kitchen well equipped to prepare all of our meals (including a gas grill).

Amazing month

The Halfmoon house was one of the best places we have stayed at. Gulf gate is a wonderful area with great neighborhood and lots of restaurants and shops so close by. The house was so nicely decorated and everything we needed to plus lots of extras. We really enjoyed the backyard with so much privacy. Can't say enough nice things about our landlord who let us check in early. Don't hesitate to book this home for a great vacation. Also very close to beaches and a great farmer's market!

Gulf Gate visit

This is an older property in a nice area with lots of activities nearby. It has everything you need for a stay. If you're looking for new and shiny, this is not the property. If you don't mind an older property, this worked well. Primarily used is as a place to sleep in between rounds of golf. Beds were comfortable, 2nd bath is a bit rustic but worked just fine. Rick was very responsive.

Cozy, Comfy and Clean!

We so enjoyed staying at the Half Moon house! It was very comfortable, cozy and clean! There were many personal touches and useful things to use for the beach. We have had some "unfortunate" experiences at other properties we have stayed at, so, Kudos to the cleaning crew here. We appreciated the good job they did. Rick, the owner, was a wonderful, responsive and friendly communicator. The neighborhood was nice and felt very safe. It is convenient to the beach, shopping and restaurants. We would definitely stay here again!

Perfect Spring Break Escape

So happy we chose to stay at the Half Moon House! Rick was a great host and immediately helped us with any questions we had. The neighborhood is quiet and the beds were very comfortable! The house was just the right size for our multigenerational group! Grandma loved it and so did the teenagers, which made this Mama happy! Everything was clean and the furniture was comfy for lounging in the evening. The patio was perfect for a morning cup of coffee and some quiet time for reading a good book. The house is centrally located which made it easy to get to all our favorite places in the area including St. Armand’s Circle, the mall at University Town Center, Venice and of course Siesta Key! I can’t wait to come back again!!

Sarasota Stay

Property was in a nice, safe neighborhood. We enjoyed having access to the bikes for a ride around the neighborhood in the evening. Property location is convenient since it is within 1-2 miles of grocery store, and 10 minute drive to Siesta Key beach. Golf also was a short drive away. Extremely well equipped with amenities like beach towels, beach chairs, cooler, etc. It was very clean and checkin was easy and smooth. Outdoor patio was a great place to enjoy coffee in the quiet of the morning or relax in the evening. Second bathroom is not a true second bathroom since located in laundry room, but would function fine for kids. We would definitely consider staying here again.

Wonderful winter escape

We just returned home after spending the last 2 weeks at this lovely home. We enjoyed every minute of our stay and wanted to let others know that they would definitely enjoy spending their vacation here. Rick was a pleasure to deal with. He responded quickly to every inquiry that we made of him. The home was situated ideally for us ....close to the Legacy Trail which was a real highlight of our stay. The bikes which are provided were used to ride many miles and we enjoyed taking them out through the quiet neighborhood as well. Location was also very close to the beaches and easy to navigate the route to them. Overall I would rate this rental a solid 5 stars. Thank you Rick for allowing us to stay in your lovely home!!!
