The Airport is 10 minutes away and you can commute by train to San Francisco or Silicon Valley.

Wi-fi worked well. I'm not sure it was clear from the listing that the unit is upstairs, which was a down-side for my 83-year-old mother. But it was nice and private, kitchen was equipped well enough for us, and the washer and dryer was a nice bonus. Parking was available behind the building, but it was too tight for our Ford Transit van, so we used street parking, usually available within a couple blocks. Safe neighborhood. We couldn't figure out how to make the stopper work in the bathroom sink, so my husband struggled to shave, but maybe that was just us.

Enjoy our stay

Clean property and we enjoyed the stay. Walking distance to downtown Mateo. Lots of restaurants to choose from and felt safe walking around the area. I would recommend this place if anyone is looking to stay around San Mateo.

Some highs, some lows

Several good things about this stay: the owners were easy to contact and very responsive, the location was extremely convenient to downtown San Mateo and to the airport, and everything in the unit (bed, couch, desk area) was comfortable for living, working, and sleeping. However, the kitchen could have been better supplied (there were two coffeemakers but no kettle, limited plates and bowls so we had to hand wash daily, and no basic pantry staples such as cooking oil or salt), and the unit didn't seem clean – the bathroom storage area was covered in hair, and there was trash in the garbage cans when we arrived. The shared walls made this unit less quiet than we hoped, the promised "parking spot" was actually shared with other units as well, and there was a plumbing issue while we were there, although the owners were very apologetic and helped make it right for us quickly and appropriately.

Great Upstairs Apartment

The bedrooms are big and the whole place lives larger than the square footage. We enjoyed being walking distance to food and coffee. It was a great place for our working vacation.

Cozy San Mateo Holiday Retreat

Wonderful rental! Centrally located in downtown San Mateo. Walkable to coffee, grocery, restaurants and the train station. Well appointed kitchen (had everything we needed to make a holiday dinner and baked treats) and 2 roomy bedrooms. Beautiful backyard space with seating and fire table. Would Definitely recommend.
