Whether you're looking for a beachside retreat or action-packed getaway, this charming Ocean Beach vacation rental is the perfect place to hang your sun hat! With a dog-friendly attitude, private balcony, and central oceanfront location, the home is ideal for family trips or well-deserved downtime with friends.

Ocean Beach Pier 1 is the bottom half of a duplex located just blocks from the off-leash grounds at Dog Beach, and swimming at Ocean Beach Park! Enjoy world-class attractions in downtown San Diego within 10 miles, including Sea World, Balboa Park (home of the San Diego Zoo), and the USS Midway Museum.

Inside, the home you will find spacious accommodations. The living room is the perfect place to unwind after days at the beach offering cozy couches and cable TV. Catch up on last-minute emails thanks to in-house WiFi.

Family meals are best served around the dining table for four. The fully stocked kitchen offers a range-top stove and dishwasher for easy meal prep - after all, you're on vacation! Dine indoors or enjoy meals on the patio at sunset.

The front patio allows you to see the ocean and feel the breeze, yet offers a covered roof and sense of privacy. Enjoy quick bites or leisurely meals on the bistro table before grabbing dessert and strolling along the Ocean Beach Pier! The home even offers an enclosed patio.

Ocean Beach Pier 1 features one full bath and two bedrooms, one with a king size bed and one with a queen bed - there is also two twin beds in the SUN ROOM; this home comfortably sleeps six guests. This home also welcomes well-behaved dogs of up to 25 pounds each, though please be aware there is a nightly fee.

Larger groups can rent the upstairs of this duplex! Ocean Beach Pier 2 is a studio, featuring one full bath and space to sleep five guests (four adults). Altogether, both units accommodate 14 visitors (12 adults) and three dogs (25 pounds or less). Please also note that there is a third condo in this building, Ocean Beach Pier #3, that sleeps four guests and can also be rented if you desire.

Spend quality time with loved ones at home then head to the beach! Play fetch with Fido at Dog Park, or learn to kayak and stand-up paddleboard through equipment rentals in town. Ocean Beach offers a laid-back attitude with family eateries, pubs, and shopping along Newport Avenue.

Plan epic day trips riding water roller coasters at the Journey to Atlantis, dining on fresh seafood tacos downtown, or shopping in San Diego's unique arts and cultural districts like nearby La Jolla and City Heights.

A little bit about Ocean Beach:

This small beach town is a favorite among locals who spend their days surfing, sunbathing around the pier, hanging out in their vintage VW vans, and strolling through the many surf shops, taco stands and antique malls. Ocean Beach has a throw-back groovy vibe of vintage SoCal, coupled with friendly locals and great dining

Nestled between the San Diego River and the hills of Point Loma, Ocean Beach is perfect for surfers to enjoy the waves created by jetties. The beach is also friendly for swimmers, sunbathers, even dogs too!

THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW:

No Smoking is allowed inside any of our properties. You are welcome to smoke in outside areas of the home.

For homes that allow pets there are certain rules that always apply. Pets are never to be left alone in the homes unattended. If you plan to spend time away from your pet please find a doggy daycare. You can call our office for recommendations.
Pet Fee: $40/Night

This unit is located across from the beach and in the Village area of Ocean Beach so you will have normal street noise and village noise. If this does not suit you, please do not rent this location.

This home is located adjacent to 2 other units so we ask our guests to respect those other guests and keep the noise level down to a minimum. Our rental agreement includes a no tolerance policy regarding excessive noise, occupancy and/or parties. Deposit forfeitures and/or evictions are strictly enforced.

Ocean Beach lies in the San Diego International Airport flight path for some departing flights. No planes can depart after 11:30 pm or before 6:30 am.
Laundry facilities will be located at the OB Hotel across the street. You have access to their coin laundry facilities.

Please make sure you are comfortable with these policies before renting with La Jolla Vacation Rentals.

Will not use this rental company again. While the rental was in a good spot and fit our family perfectly. We ended up having a situation with one of their trash cans (not ours) that had not been taken out that resulted maggots EVERYWHERE. They ended up getting into the house in two separate spots. They sent people out to try to fix the problem hours later, but it was so bad. I am so disgusted one was even in my toe!. No one from the vacation rental company even reached out to apologize or try to make it right. If there would have some kind of accountability taken I probably wouldn’t be writing this review. Bad business practices in my opinion.

Everything was wrong

A big mistake from the start. They said there was something wrong with my address, and it came down to the wire till we had that fixed. We drove all the way from Oklahoma and wanted an early check in cause we were going to a Padre’s game and we need to get our dog settled before we went. We called all day and they never responded until one hour before our designated check in time. I contacted her enough time in advance and she couldn’t accommodate us. In resort of this I had to go rent a room at another motel for the afternoon for only my dog, which is pure bs! There were also several appliances that were broken, the night before we left our bed frame broke and maintenance only but a cider block underneath it, are you kidding me! The only thing that was positive about this stay was the view of the ocean and the beach. Bottom line, I would not recommend this place to anyone if staying in Ocean Beach.

Great place to stay

This place is great! Right across from the beach and around the corner from all of the restaurants! House was clean and had ample space! The bathroom is somewhat small, Butt hat is expected at beach houses in the area! I would definitely stay here again!

The property was at one time in a good neighborhood I think but the homeless have taken over , they have stores nearby But the dirty doors and handles were black dirt under couches found somebody else’s underwear under the bed it was just a terrible disappointment and nasty you would think what they charge it would be better!!!

My husband, best friend and I stayed here last year so we came back. Still great location. The noise level was much higher, more people and planes flying overhead. More deliveries from large trucks. Less homeless. Great Wednesday night street fair. Walk everyday on the beach with the pups. The place is spacious and we love the two extra rooms at the front especially the glassed in patio. Heads up…They have a ‘starter kit’ of supplies. One roll of TP, 1 tea towel and 2rolls of paper towels. No couch throws to keep warm at night.

Ocean Beach

The unit was not really listed as seen. Advertising showed a clear picture of the ocean. Not true. There were cars almost totally blocking our view. Trash trucks. Some by 3-4 times a day right next to our bedroom. The air conditioner had a humming/wining noise 24 hours a day. Guest unable to sleep in guest room. There were no lounge or beach chairs to use to go to beach. Would not stay here again

This property was extremely noisy. From the renters upstairs moving furniture and clomping around all night, to the bongo music across the street until midnight, topped off with a very loud a/c unit in the living room, it was difficult getting sleep. Then there was the parking area that was being torn up due to a plumbing problem right smack in front of the view windows for the ocean view (blocked). This construction also eliminated the parking! Our whole group agreed we’d never stay here again.

Great and fun location!

My husband and BFF travel together often. We will come back to this unit. Why, Ocean Brach is extremely dog friendly! The pups can be on the beach before 9 am and after 6pm. They are allowed in most establishments. We loved the enclosed patio where we played games and watch the people. We all felt like we were back in the 69’s! Loved the street fair. The only negative was the air conditioning did not work. They sent out people but it needed more work. Very stuffy at night and the fan was to dirty to use. I don’t think the cleaning couple really did a great job. Floor was dirty and the kitchens table wasn’t cleaned properly. We look forward to coming back for more stays. !!

Best rental on Abott st.

This location can not be beat! We really enjoyed our outdoor enclosed patio which was great for safety in terms of covid-19. The layout of the house was perfect for getting a little indoor exercise for our puppy. If you love OB then this rental will put you in the heart of it. Laundry is a little inconvenient but overall a great place to stay.

Super close to beach but noisy at evening

The apartment is great location across the beach, close to walking distance to restaurants. Apartment was clean and spacious for the convenient location. However, on most of the evening there are lots of noise around the place. On Wednesday evening, they have farmers market on the evening which was cool, but drum playing in front of the apartment till midnight! If you are looking for quiet evening with beach sounds, this may not be the place to stay.

Better than expected!

Upgrades are amazing! We have been staying in this condo over the past 15 years. This year was the best because the new arrangement added an extra "bedroom" which was perfect for our family. The enclosed patio was a great space to hangout and watch the sunset or people pass by. Because our stay was during COVID it was great to have such a nice place to hangout . As always the food at the local resturants was great (Hodads, Mikes Tacos, Surf Rider Pizza, Filippis in Little Italy and Extraordinary Desserts) Looking forward to next time! Thank you!

Beach Getaway

This property is easy to access and beautiful. I love the location and the set up of the rooms. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen is beautiful. I love the stove. I do have a few minor things.... the trash outside was full when we arrived on a Monday (trash day was Monday morning) so we had a ton of flies near the entrance. Secondly the house has a lot of delivery trucks that roll of super close and are very loud. I would recommend bringing ear plugs and sleep aids. Overall, it was worth the money. We had a blast! My kids had an amazing time daily because we walked to dog beach, the tide pools and the ice cream shop.

Perfect location for a beach stay

Excellent Location!!

This property was in the best location on the beach of any VRBO I have ever stayed in!! It was literally across the street from the beach, had an awesome view, and right in the middle of all the restaurants, shops, and breweries. Location, location, location!! And the house was great too!!

Chili cook off 2019

For the 26 years my husband and his family have been attending the ocean beach street fair and chili cook off. As we have a large family, hotels are just to small and this property right next to the hotel was amazing!!! There were plenty of beds and towels for us all. Plus there was room to stretch out. We will definitely will be booking this property in the future. Signed the Keene family

Great location. Just what we were expecting.

We did have some items missing but one email took care of that. The only criticism we had was that walking barefoot inside left your feet bottoms black. Otherwise you can expect to see us back.
