Great trip, disappointing location
This is the first disappointing experience with VRBO in 20 years. We traveled from NC and called when we arrived at 1:00 for an early check-in. We were told no, not until 3pm. We arrived at 4 and the cleaning ladies were on the way out the door. They helped a few of us with our bags. When we entered the house windows were open and it did not smelled like it had just been cleaned. I smelled like it had been closed up for a while. It looked more like someone had come in and wiped down the place. Dirt was on the hard wood floors, the banister was sticky, stains on white leather sofa and the bathrooms were not cleaned well. The location was on a dead end street and a not so desirable neigborhood. We immediately called VRBO because there was no directions left in the house on who to call if we needed assistance. They gave us 4 numbers for the property manager. We left several messages and did not hear back from her until late Monday(poor communication) we arrived on Sunday. We chose not to stay due to feeling unsafe in an unclean house. We went to a hotel (Hilton Garden Inn) and spent the remainder of our vacation. The owner did reach out via email to state the cost of the house and that he had not had any issues with safety at that property. We were told by several Uber drivers that was an unsafe area, especially for older women.We were never offered any solutions to our concerns and therefore had to spend the week in a hotel.
