The Lake, Forest & Local History

Lake Pend Oreille is Idaho’s largest lake, stretching approximately 43 miles long and reaching depths of more than 1,150 feet. Its mountain-lined shores and broad open waters offer miles of scenery to explore north and south of the cabin.

The lake’s beautifully clear water is one of the highlights of staying here. On calm, clear days, you can look down from the deck and see more than 20 feet into the water—a remarkable backdrop for morning coffee or a relaxing afternoon.

Extensive surrounding U.S. Forest Service lands add to the area’s peaceful, undeveloped character, with forests, mountain trails, and opportunities for outdoor adventure.
