Whistling Oyster provides unobstructed panoramic views of the sparkling waters and endless skies. From sunrise to sunset, guests are treated to the breathtaking beauty of the Outer Banks coastline right from the comfort of their own rental home. With direct beach access just steps away, you can spend your days swimming, sunbathing, or building sandcastles with the entire family, dog included. Whistling Oyster is also a short drive away from local Hatteras Island entertainment. Head to Waterman's for a family dinner with front-row views of the Pamlico Sound, visit Real Watersports to learn how to kiteboard or windsurf, or head to the Bodie Island lighthouse to learn more about the North Carolina coast. We had rough weather, the fault of no one. Our road was closed and under water and sand for five days. We had to wade through water to get the vehicle parked up the road on higher ground. The water can definitely come up and around the house with certain weather. It was just a long week with inconveniences but these could not be helped. However, Andrew Prince with Resort Realty reached out to us several times and checked on us. Even offering to come in person to check on us. Highway 12 was washed out and closed and Andrew called to check in on us with this situation. Excellent service from Resort Realty. The weather and government shut down had us on limited access to ferry's and attractions. The driveway is really a dune of sand. I had four elderly people between 70-80 years old and one other guest with a broken foot on a scooter. It was hard to navigate this with this crowd. I recommend four wheel drive for this property. Four houses down vans were having to be towed out of the road. Resort Realty was up front about the vehicle choice for 24271 Ocean Drive. There was a pool table at this house and this kept us entertained. The house was adequate for our needs and ocean views from the Livingroom sitting area. Excellent views! I would recommend this property with the right vehicle.

Great View

The house is located right at the edge if the icean. If you want to be on the water, this house will be perfect. Unfortunately, the homes around the property are very damaged and have zero beach front, so many families used the area around our house. The house is older, but clean. Be sure to bring essential items such as cleaning sprays, paper towels, dishwasher cleaning pods, all washing machine cleaner, toiletpaper, salt/pepper, books and soap. We love the water and fishing so for us the house was perfect.
