Cabana at the La Milpa Ecolodge and Research Station seen in the early morning fog. The lodge is in the Rio Bravo Conservation area in the Belizean rainforest near the Guatemalan and Mexican borders and attracts birders and those interested in the local wildlife and Mayan ruins. The tree on the right is a kapok or ceiba tree, which Mayans believed represented the hierarchical structure of the universe.

Beautiful location on the river. Very nice staff. Big clean room. Comfortable beds. Nice restaurant. You’re surrounded by nature. A quick 20-30 minutes to main airport.

To small
Be prepared to live out of your suitcase, no storage, very small casita. Lots of issues with hot water, due to being of grid. Long ways from San Pedro or secret beach so golf cart is a must.
