Visit to Casa Vitae, Rethymnon (upstairs apartment) - Sep 2022
Our family of 4 (2 adults with 2 daughters in early 20s) had a fabulous holiday in Crete. The apartment is wonderful with all the charm of an old building which has been sympathetically restored and modernised to a high standard. All the rooms are large and we found having two bathrooms to be a bonus. The swimming pool is very small, so not ideal for keen swimmers, but excellent to cool down in whilst reading a book and drinking a cold glass of wine! This suited us perfectly!
The location of the apartment is equally as impressive, being right in the heart of Rethymnon "Old Town' with less than a minutes' walk to the town's best shops and restaurants and 10 mins to the beach. There are several supermarkets within a short walk and a fabulous bakery about 10 minutes walk away.
Communication was with a delightful lady called Athina via Whats App. She sent excellent directions to help us to find the apartment and then met us at there when we arrived. Athina showed us around and then talked us through some of the best places to go on the island. During our week long stay, Athina answered any questions we had very promptly and although we didn't actually have any problems with the apartment, I have now doubt that Athina would have dealt with them very efficiently if we had.
I would say that the only downside is that there is no private parking so we parked in a public car park. Not a problem except that parking in Rethymnon is a challenge so it wasn't always easy to find a space. Having said that, there is so much to do in Rethymnon, we found that we didn't use the car much, other than to travel to the beautiful beaches which are on the south coast.
I would highly recommend this apartment and Rethymnon as a holiday destination. We are already planning our visit for next year!
