Classic Beach House One Block from Boardwalk

The Messner House – A charming 1930s beach home built by our Great Grandfather in 1935, located on a peaceful street just a little over a block from the ocean and boardwalk on the south side of town. Nestled on Stockley Street, the street is quiet and neighboring properties are not rented, ensuring a serene atmosphere.

This beautifully maintained home offers 4 bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms, blending the timeless appeal of a traditional beach house with modern upgrades.

Bedrooms & Amenities:
Each of the four comfortable bedrooms is furnished with a queen bed, cozy quilts, quality linens, and bath towels. Smart TVs are provided in every room, and the house is equipped with high-speed Wi-Fi throughout.

Kitchen, Dining & Family Room:
The fully updated kitchen features sleek stainless steel appliances and all the essentials needed for preparing meals. The adjoining family room boasts a cathedral ceiling and a large dining table, perfect for family meals or enjoying a game of cards together.

Bathrooms:
The three recently renovated bathrooms include stylish tile showers with multiple showerhead options and heated floors for extra comfort. The unique jack an Jill design of the upstairs bathrooms includes two half-bathrooms, each attached to a bedroom and sharing a spacious central shower.

Outdoor Space & Extras:
Relax on the inviting front porch, a perfect spot to unwind after a day at the beach. At the back of the house, you'll find the laundry room with washer and dryer located beneath the garage apartment. Garage apartment is occasionally used by family but not rented.

The large outdoor shower, tucked under a canopy of climbing hydrangea, is an absolute oasis. With a rain shower head, it’s one of the best outdoor showers.

Walkway to the rear of the house needs to remain accessible to access the garage apartment and for garbage service to get trash cans to and from the street.

Location:
Just a short 10-minute walk to shops, restaurants, and entertainment, and only a little over a block to the beach and boardwalk. Enjoy easy, free street parking with two parking permits provided, plus space for one car in the driveway.

Pet-Friendly:
We welcome responsible pet owners to bring well-behaved dogs with you for a small fee of $150 for the first dog and $50 for a second. We are happy to offer some pet amenities to help with traveling with your pet.

Local Hosts: We live in town and are available if you need anything during your stay. Please don’t hesitate to reach out—we’re happy to help make your visit as comfortable and enjoyable as possible.

Wonderful experience staying at the Messner House. The location is excellent-- just a block away from the boardwalk and walking distance to Rehoboth's restaurant, retail, and entertainment options.The house is clean and is equipped with the essentials. We appreciated the welcome book covering the details we needed to know, along with recommendations for the local area. The hosts were prompt in responding. Would recommend and stay here again!

Fantastic Rehoboth Beach Stay

Stunning character cottage with all the comforts of home. Ideal location just a block from the beach - close enough to run down for a swim, far enough to avoid the beach trippers. Owners were responsive and easy to communicate with. Perfect stay - we'll be back!

Great location, short walk to the beach. Plenty of space to gather for meals, family board games. We had a barbecue for Father’s Day, and my chef husband was pleasantly surprised with all the tools available in the kitchen and grill, and nicely organized. Host shared tips for dog friendly spots to explore. We also appreciated that available for a long weekend, since many rentals only offer week stays during the summer.

A Gem!

Perfect house for a beach getaway— easy walk to the beach and to restaurants, shops, and activities. Screened-in porch out front was lovely. Everything was immaculately clean and beds were comfortable. Loved that this felt like a home!

Memorial Day weekend getaway

We had an excellent time in Rehobeth. Our kids are teenagers, so they loved the easy access to the beach, boardwalk, and into town. My husband and I loved the vibe. Great community. We found ourselves riding our bikes to Cape Henlopen, Kayaking in the bay- large bird sanctuary. The house had plenty of room for all of us. It is updated with modern amenities, but still has its original charm. Reminded us a lot of the cabin we have in the family up at Newfound Lake, NH. Thank you for sharing your home away from home with us.

Nice stay in great location

We spent a lovely week at this perfectly located house with our family, including our 2 small dogs. We had everything we needed (they even provide linens!) and could walk to everything. The stairs were a little dicey for small kids (and tall adults), but it’s an older house,so the funky layout is part of the charm. The host was very responsive and reached out ahead of time with helpful information.

Great House in PERFECT Location!!

We absolutely adored this house!! The house is so charming and has really nice updates to the bathrooms and kitchen. The outdoor shower was a highlight! The front screened in porch is great for morning coffee and people watching without the bother of mosquitos. The walk to the beach and downtown was less than 5 mins and easily walkable for both the kids and elderly. The house was well stocked with the basics and linens/bath towels. The property manager was friendly, attentive and quick to reply.

Comfy house in a great location

This is a great beach house! The owners had all the basic necessities like dishwasher tabs, sugar and toilet paper, so grocery shopping at the beginning of the week wasn’t as bad. Check-in and Check-out was a breeze. The house has a great screened in porch and the tall trees and landscaping kept it noticeably cooler. The location is great- just a bit more than a block to the beach and several blocks south of Rehoboth Ave allows for an easy walk to shops and restaurants but a less-crowded beach at the Stockley Street beach access. We had a great time and will keep this one on the list.

Terrific

This stay was so sweet. The house is quaint, well stocked and built with love and character. The owners are incredibly responsive and kind. It was a wonderful stay for our family! We made great use of the location by easily walking to the beach and renting bikes to take long rides around the area.

Beach cottage - 1 1/2 blocks from beach

We booked a last minute Labor Day vacation and were thrilled to stay in this beautiful beach cottage only 1 1/2 blocks from the beach and boardwalk. We loved how comfortable the home and how equipped kitchen was. Like many rentals you have to bring your linens which is not convenient. There isn’t much of a yard but enjoyed the outside shower and screened in front porch. It is an old home and is noisy but who cares when you can be so close to the beach.

Wonderful getaway

Spent a wonderful July week in Rehoboth with family, relaxing after college graduation and prepping for the transition to “real life.” The Messner house is absolutely charming and the host friendly and helpful. Stockley Street is convenient and quiet. We hope to go back!

Idyllic

I can't imagine a better beach house than this one! It has all the options - quick walk to the fantastic beach and boardwalk, or you can stay in and read in comfort. All the little touches are there in the house and it has such a good vibe. Wonderful place and experience.

Historic Home in Long Needle Pines One Block from Rehoboth Beach

This was a lovely historic home set in a grove of long needle pines with nice renovations preserving the ambiance of the home. In addition, the location couldn't have been better--just a block from the beach and a short walk to downtown activities. Just a couple of quirks: you bring your own sheets and towels and no soap in the bathrooms; however, the hosts left wine so you don't have to worry! Wonderful Stay!

Great location

Location of this cute house was amazing! Great screened in porch, large living room, outdoor shower for rinsing sand and also washer/dryer a plus. Property owner/ manager was accommodating and quick to reply to messages! Bedrooms and kitchens were rather small in this house (looked roomier in pictures online) , but it's cute charm/ character outweighed the smaller sized rooms. Overall, very nice stay!
