Casa Philigra al lado del Resort Edgewater

Justo al lado del Edgewater Resort se encuentra Philigra House, una casa familiar de dos dormitorios ideal para los que tienen poco presupuesto.

La casa es luminosa y espaciosa, con un gran patio para los niños. Un paseo de tres minutos por el camino lo llevará a una hermosa playa de la costa oeste y a todas las puestas de sol que pueda necesitar. También hay un restaurante para niños (Spaghetti House) a unos 20 metros de distancia. Todo está a mano, autobuses, alquiler de coches ... la playa.

Philigra House es ideal para una familia pequeña con un presupuesto limitado, visitando la isla para eventos especiales en el Edgewater de al lado o simplemente para escapar del mundo real.

Eddie was a great Host to deal with before,during and after our stay there,with no problems what so ever!The house and location is absolutely perfect to many things we as a family needed, including the local bus service just a few steps away,local eateries,small supermarket near by,hiring of ebikes,vehicles,motorbikes etc etc with just a stones throw away from the beautiful Edgewater Resort and all it has to offer there,but at a fraction of the price of resorts and other accommodations around with your own privacy (even own space for teenagers to have their "time out" away from parents lol) and all the comforts of home away from home...we couldn't have asked for more!! We will be coming back and staying there again in the future for sure! A

Problems at our Accommodation

The Property Mgr obviously had not been looking after the property very well. A roof flashing was loose and flapped in the wind & kept us awake until we fixed it ourselves the next day. The stove did not work. There was no can opener. The crockery was depleted and was replaced eventually by the Mgr. The main problem was that the hot spot wifi did not work, the landline did not work and the TV did not work. The Mgr logged the problem with Vodafone but it was not fixed by the end of our 7 day stay. We therefore had no means of communication at the house during our stay.

Amazing spot

The house was clean on arrival with plenty of additional towels and bedding. The house is in the perfect location for easy car hire, beach and restaurant access.There was some handy spices in the cupboard and we found the lock box very convenient for making sure we never lost the key. Will definitely look into using this property again when we retuen to the island for our next trip.

A great location. Edgewater Resort and beach proximity. Everything was provided in unit. Downside was noisy - especially as buses go in and out down driveway/road. I personally found the Vrbo website not user friendly. Although I did not meet with Eddie he was very prompt when I did manage to send messages to him and he made sure we had everything we needed. Definitely would use again.

Place with an sland vibe

Everything we needed and nothing fancy. The view of the hills was great, the yard was huge, and the walk to the beach took 2 minutes. Would stay again.

It was okay... nice for a few nights.

Fairly basic home, but still nice. Quite cheap furniture and appliances, but was nice that there were things we wanted to use like chilli sauce etc in pantry. Pretty hot house, the fans do help a little but not too much. Was great that the lounge and master bedroom had louvers with insect netting that could be left open - but my niece really suffered in the other room not having these. The beds are REALLY uncomfortable... both our bodies ended up feeling pretty rough after our 5 nights sleeping on them. SERIOUS ant problem that needs to be sorted too. Those really huge ants, just everywhere... Overall, still a nice place if you can't afford spending too much - but we were so glad to upgrade to another place for our last 4 nights on the island - and finally sleep in comfortable beds :)

Exactly what we needed

Showed up at the property and was blown away at how clean the space was. It got better when we realised the beach was a minute walk away. Was so impressed and couldn’t believe what we got for the price! Has all the basics so we could cook our own food for the week (only thing that we couldn’t get to work was the jug but was no biggy, we just boiled water on the stove instead). Was also extremely close to some really nice restaurants and the bus stops right outside the house so you can easily get to anywhere on the island if you don’t have your own transport. The fans above the beds were lifesavers as it gets pretty hot at night! Will definitely be staying here again if we make it back to beautiful Rarotonga

Right beside Edgewater

Great stay. Property is very clean and fully stocked with cooking utensils. Also has a book shelf with lots of books. For the price would definitely stay here again

Philigra House is a short walk to the lagoon and great for sunsets, weather, whales and food

Viewing the website one assumes the House is right by the lagoon which is where we like to be. Studying further you realise it is not so. We have stayed in Rarotonga 16 times so knew the area and Edgewater and it was the price for up to 4 people that made us choose Philigra House The house is well equiped and we lacked nothing we needed. Most kitchen and bedding was new. TV was not great but that's the Cooks but we did see NZ beat Australia in the Netball World Cup. For us oldies the beds were flat but mattresses with more cushioning would be more acceptable. The location of the speed bump down to Edgewater meant every time the Clockwise and Anti-Clockwise bus came up to them the brakes squeaked and then the engine noise rose as the Bus accelerated away from them. Another Cook Island factor was the dogs barking and roosters crowing during the night. The lovely temperature compensated for this though. Great Restaurants close by and shopping convenient if you like to cook. Kitchen window by sink could not be locked. We did not use the internet but acquired a SIM card and for $49 received all the data, minutes and texts we needed. An information file would be helpful for first time people coming to Rarotonga. Overall we were happy and satisfied with the facility considering the price. You can delete suggestions of improvements.
