The hotel is clean and budget-friendly, which we appreciated. Breakfast was also good. However, pet owners should be aware of some serious limitations regarding the hotel’s “pet-friendly” policy.
Although our booking included breakfast and the hotel advertised itself as pet-friendly, we were informed at check-in that pets are only allowed on the outdoor patio, not inside the breakfast area. Unfortunately, the patio is neither covered nor heated, which makes it unusable during rainy days or in the colder months. To make matters worse, pets are not allowed to be left alone in the rooms.
This combination of rules means that if you’re traveling with a pet, your family cannot enjoy breakfast together, you’ll need to take turns. The staff at reception did not offer any practical solution either (such as a blanket for outdoor seating or a way to dry the chairs and tables).
In our opinion, the hotel should not advertise itself as pet-friendly during fall or winter, or at least make these restrictions very clear when confirming reservation. We requested a full refund of the pet fee (CAD 70 for two nights) through Expedia, but the hotel only agreed to refund half, after multiple rounds of communication.
Overall, this experience also highlighted how Expedia does not take responsibility for inaccurate information listed on their site and has very limited power to help when a property’s description turns out to be misleading.
