  • Summary:

    rkside Victorian is a spacious apartment close to Oakland, Shadyside, SouthSide and Downtown. Very large apt in historic Homestead; walking distance to the Carnegie Library Music Hall. Apartment is recently renovated and decorated. Master bedroom with new en-suite bath. Carnegie of Homestead Music Hall is nearby.



    Building faces a beautiful city park surrounded by historic homes and churches. Guests have exclusive use of a covered front and back porch.



    The Space:

    Apartment is bright and spacious with numerous, cozy sun-bathed reading nooks. Architectural charms abound: pocket doors, crown molding, 3 fireplaces, built-ins, window seat, huge windows and high ceilings.



    Guest Access:

    Access to entire first floor apartment, front porch and back porch. Private entrance from front porch. Shared entrance from side.



    The Neighborhood:

    Homestead is a historic neighborhood along the Monongahela River. Apt is walking distance to the Carnegie Library and Music Hall, The Waterfront Shopping complex, and Eighth Avenue Shops and cafes. Homestead has an artsy, urban, industrial vibe.



    Apt is also blocks away from the Waterfront Trailhead of the Great Allegheny Passage bike trail.



    Getting Around:

    Two blocks to bus stop to Downtown Pittsburgh and Oakland.

Beautiful Home

Me and my friends enjoyed this space so much . The host was very kind and responsive. Definitely will book again when we come back to Pittsburgh!

Cutest rental in Pittsburgh

This home has so much charm. The decor was so cute and cozy. The only thing of note is that you can hear pretty much all of the goings on outside the house and there are upstairs neighbors you can hear come and go. Not really an issue just something to be aware of, we have lived in the city before so we are used to that kind of noise level. But overall it’s a great location, there’s a park right across the street, close to convenience stores and the waterfront area is super nice too! We would absolutely stay here again!

All I can say is the pictures are deceiving. The property manager is a saint and that communication was wonderful. Unfortunately it wasn't as clean as what I was hoping for, and it seemed pretty ran down. The people upstairs were very loud and sounded like they were fighting. We could not find a remote to the TV no matter where we looked which was difficult because we had two younger children with us that needed some kind of entertainment on our downtimeand to distract from the noise upstairs. It was very convenient that there was a park right across the street. Unfortunately it's not a very good neighborhood to go to the park in the evening. These are the reasons I'm only giving the property a three-star review. The hostess deserves all five stars though.

First, the positives: although we never met the host, she was alsways responsive. Second, it was nit expensive. Third, it was accessible to all of the sights listed. However, this property is not as advertised. It is called "historic" but it is just old and not well maintained. Nothing matches - not the furniture (which was stained and looked like it had come from Good Will). Same for the lines. They were all old and tattered. Same for the china, which as chipped and old. Whatnis worse, while it was neat, it is so olfactory that everything had a layer ofmdust and grime that would be hard to get out. Only 3 of the 4 rooms have window air conditioners. When e arrived one of us wanted to stay in the big back room but it had been over 80 degrees that day and the whole apartment was hot and that rooms was never going to cool down. In short, this is a ramshackle and unwelcoming property. We would never go back.The 5 photos shown (1) a stained hand towel - it was washed but obviously stained; (2) how you need to adjust the curtains for the old air conditioner to work; (3) a pile of mismatched linens left in one room; (4) the stained seat of an old wood chair; and (5) the chipped lampshade in one room.

Not as advertised. There were cracks in the floor, ceiling, and doors. Doors inside the residence were directly shared with other residences, which was unexpected being separated by only a lock. The towels were raggedy and the sheets had stains and hair present on them. When reaching out to the property owner, they apologized statiing that their services had been really busy from the storms in the area. I did not understand that response, considering the towels and wash cloths were laid out... so expected clean sheets. It was hard for any of us to sleep in dirty environment.
