Former horse farm called Vaquero (Spanish for "Horseman"). Secure storage for bikes and gear. Faces the French Broad River Valley with mountains in the distance. Only 10 minutes to downtown Brevard and close to DuPont State Forest and Pisgah Forest. Single level home on a flat lot. Very private, great for bikers, convenient to attractions. FREE activities including Biltmore, Rock Wall, Zipline, Whitewater Rafting, Trampoline Park, Snow Tubing and Axe Throwing.

Vaquero's outdoor spaces have been lovingly maintained and include a screened porch and deck that overlook the pasture and the dramatic mountain view beyond. There is a lovely pergola where you will find both a gas grill and a charcoal grill. The pond beside it has a little dock, which is a peaceful place to sit and relax. We are nestled in the valley so you don't have to drive on any twisty mountain roads to get here.

Come explore Brevard, Asheville, Hendersonville and the surrounding communities. Vaquero is located a mere 2 mile drive to Oskar Blues Brewery and several other excellent local breweries. Beautiful Sierra Nevada Brewery is only about a 30 minute drive away with tours and a restaurant. We are just minutes from downtown Brevard and the entrance to Pisgah National Forest. It's also a short drive to DuPont State Forest, the site of the beautiful waterfalls featured in The Hunger Games. Opportunities for outdoor activities are endless, including biking, hiking and sightseeing.

Downtown Brevard streets have a quaint small town feel but boast fantastic dining choices, bakeries, shopping, and several local art galleries. A favorite is Main Street Ltd., a great gift shop right next to Quotations Cafe. Of course, Brevard is home to the renowned Brevard Music Center, and is also host to annual festivals including the White Squirrel Festival in early June, the Twilight Tour and festival in early December, great 4th of July festivals, the Mountain Song Festival every September, and lots of fun activities on Halloween (Brevard is in Transylvania County, after all).

Please note the maximum stay for Vaquero is two weeks. PET NOTE: Dogs only, no cats please.

The property was well kept with beautiful flowers outside along with a spotlessly clean home that is well equipped. The beds were comfortable which is always important to me. It's close to Brevard but still has privacy. We especially loved the screened in porch.Its a great place to get away.

My mother and I come to Brevard for a week to visit my brother yearly and have stayed in many different accommodations. Vaquero was perfect for us! Host Peter was so accommodating with a couple of schedule changes we requested. The home is everything we needed. One level (3 steps enter), clean and well equipped. We really wanted for nothing! We loved the screened in porch for sitting outside watching the rain and listening to nature. The home feels secluded, but it’s very close to Brevard center, hiking, tubing, shopping, restaurants and so much more! We also discovered Key Falls, a beautiful waterfall, located minutes down the road. We really appreciated your hospitality and hope to stay again! Thank you!

Multigenerational visit

Brought great-grandpa to visit his grandson and family. Able to cook each dinner meal to eat together. House was very well equipped that we didn’t want for anything. Plenty of space for spreading out and being active. Location was perfect for us, including an airport pick up.

Beautiful home away from home

We really enjoyed our stay at this rental. It was very "homey" and had everything we needed. We were happy to have a dog friendly rental that was all on one level... and the covered, pull in carport was an unexpected surprise. It made it so easy unloading and loading the car of luggage, groceries and our dogs. The geographical location was great too as it was easy access to all we wanted to do (i.e. hikes in the Pisgah and Dupont and numerous breweries). We also loved the privacy of being on a 5 acre parcel with great views out the back windows. I loved seeing all the different birds coming to the numerous bird feeders, hearing the frogs singing in the pond and having the fireflies pretty much every night, this time of year !

Great place!

We loved staying here, very clean and homey! We loved the back yard and deck- very pretty area. Only concern was with our dogs the property was not technically fenced in by the road so they could have ran out onto the street but other than that was the perfect property.

Great location in Brevard

This property is an excellent base for activities in the Brevard area. A pastoral setting, this farmhouse is out in the countryside but within minutes of Pisgah/Brevard. We will use this home again.

Perfect for our needs

The house was perfect for our short vacation. The house was very well maintained and clean. The pictures don't do the house justice. Very well decorated and well stocked with everything you need for your stay. The grounds are fantastic, with an assortment that can be enjoyed right from the screened porch. Amazing!

We came from Charlotte so when we got to Brevard, it was too early for check in so we went right down the road from the house to Brevard Tubing and went tubing for two hours until check in was available. Once we arrived at the house, we instantly felt right at home. The house was very clean and private! The property itself was beautiful. The house has amazing views on the back deck. We spent the most time on the back decks but also sat by the pond and the Pergola on the property. The location was great as we ventured to Hooker Falls, Sliding Rock and good Looking Glass Falls for a fun filled adventure! We look forward to coming back! Thank you for your hospitality!

Family Reunion in the Mountains

The pictures do not give this property justice of the peaceful beauty and surroundings it deserves. The owners have thought of everything to make this such a pleasant home to stay in, from the decorative flowers on the patio and around the property, to ensuring the lawn is freshly cut upon arrival, providing charcoal for us with the outdoor grill if we chose to use it and having each room set up so nicely, with adequate towels for the bathrooms and plenty of kitchen amenities that we needed for our stay. They even provided fish food for the small fish pond on the property so that we could enjoy feeding the fish each evening! We loved watching the sunset on the back porch area each night and just appreciated the space this home allowed 5 adults to gather for our annual reunion with other family in Brevard. We felt very comfortable in this home and just appreciate the location, the views of the valley and mountains and the peacefulness in the evening that it provided. Would most definitely stay with this property again without hesitation!

Peaceful

Very peaceful; especially enjoyed sitting in the screened in porch. Good access to hiking and Brevard. We did have a problem with the water being cloudy at first and actually brown in one of the tubs. It cleared up after a few days. Not sure what the problem was. We did not call about it. We also couldn’t figure out how to change the thermostat settings. Next time we will call about these 2 things. But we loved the house and the great views.

Enjoyable Vacation

The property was very clean when we arrived. So peaceful and quiet. Although the weather was not perfect we enjoyed the property and especially the screened in porch. The fact that we could bring our extended family (fur babies) made it even more wonderful. We will surely be visiting again.
