"This is a really lovely and immaculately maintained property, and one that provides and excellent base for exploring the Lake District. It is very well equipped and comfortable, and also nice and quiet - just the tonic if on a break. We enjoyed cooking and relaxing and also exploring the local area, which was new to us. We hope to stay again!"

"The Lilac Barn was lovely, exactly as it looks in the pictures, clean & spacious with a wonderful welcome bundle. I can’t recommend it enough to anyone looking for a place to stay, just outside the hustle & bustle of the Lakes."

"The cottage and location were lovely. The private parking space was too small and very awkward to access. There was plenty of unrestricted parking in the road. The property was not adequately prepared between bookings. The cleaning did not deal with the overpowering smell of curry powder that lasted till we left."

"Very helpful to have the use of this property for what I wanted to do in the area. It was very useful to have the off-street parking space; just note that if other people park on the opposing verge, then the turning space becomes very tight."

"Lovely cottage, well-equipped. Wonderful position for walking straight from the cottage, and the valley with its birdsong and red squirrels is a joy. The track up to the cottage has some slightly challenging moments for a standard small car that’s low to the ground, but we managed fine. Overall, a magical cottage in a magical setting."

"The house was located in Askham where we were going to a wedding. It was super clean and so convenient. Near a pub where other friends were staying and just around the corner from the town store. Very private but central to everything. We would definitely stay there again. Was absolutely perfect!"

"Cottage war sehr schön, so wie wir es uns vorgestellt hatten. Das cottage liegt in einem sehr ruhigen Dorf. Die Bewohner des Dorfes sind sehr gastfreundlich. Das einzige Pub ( Restaurant) im Dorf ist sehr zu empfehlen, aber Reservierung nötig. Uns hat der Urlaub sehr viel Spaß gemacht, obwohl das Wetter typisch englisch war. Auch unser Hund fühlte sich sehr wohl. Einzig störende war, die etwas laute Pumpe für das warme Wasser."

"Had a relaxing and very peaceful stay at Heron Cottage. The bed was really comfy and the area was so peaceful it made for a very relaxing break. Beautiful area away from the bustle of the nearby Lake District. Plenty to see and do in the area."

"This was our second holiday at High Bield - we stayed 2 years ago. It is a very special place to stay as it is in a wonderful location. We only used the car twice during the one week we stayed because all the walks and cycle rides could be done from the house. Windermere station was only a short drive away so we could easily pick up family arriving from London. Weather wasn’t what we expected in early June - warm for the first couple of days then much cooler with rain for the rest of the week...
