I am writing to formally complain about my recent stay at the East Miami Hotel, which was supposed to be a special birthday weekend for me. Before my arrival, I received an email regarding my stay that stated my incidental fee would be $150 per night. However, when I arrived at the hotel, I was informed that the incidental fee would instead be $250 per night. Because this directly conflicted with the information I had received in writing, I requested to speak with a manager. The manager ultimately honored the $150 rate that I had originally been informed of. However, by that point, I had already been charged $800 in incidental fees while I waited for the initial $500 charge to be refunded. Having to deal with an unexpected charge and wait for a refund during the beginning of my birthday weekend was extremely frustrating and financially inconvenient. Unfortunately, that was not the only issue with my stay. When I entered my room, I discovered that the sheets were stained. I have photographs documenting the condition of the sheets and can provide them as evidence. What is most disappointing is that this was my birthday weekend, and instead of arriving at the hotel and being able to relax and enjoy my trip, my experience immediately began with a dispute over charges, an unexpected financial hold, and then discovering that the room was not properly prepared.
