I never get tired of this place. It is wild and beautiful with amazing wildlife.
Green Island is my favorite birding spot. The best part is that I have the place to myself every time I am there. You never know what you are going to see.
A small group og hooded mergansers including 2 males and 1 female. The male on the left does not look very happy about something.
A pair of sandhill cranes in the middle of nowhere. I could tell they were there by the call but they stayed firmly put until I got close. I learned a vcaluable lesson after this shot. Use tick spray in the woods. I had so many ticks on me that I had to get the oral antibiotic to ward off lyme disease.
Hundreds of white pelicans in a large squadron migrating through the backwaters of the Mississippi River. I was using a large 600 mm lens so I was only able to get a fraction of the pelicans in the picture.
