Solmar Penthouse comprises two 2 double bed bedrooms designed to accommodate up to 4 adults / children with a spectacular view over Marsascala’s characteristic fishing port and the open sea beyond.

Centrally located and set just back from the harbour front on a quiet non-thoroughfare street, the apartment offers calm and will allow you to enjoy Marsascala’s seaside location and its traditional relaxed social lifestyle making for a fascinating holiday for the whole family.

The apartment is just a 5 minute walk from the Marsaskala bus terminus from where you can reach all corners of Malta and Gozo in comfort and low cost without having to worry about driving or parking. We can organise rapid and efficient transfer from the airport to the apartment with immediate check in, obtain 7 day bus pass tickets for you. We can also organise bespoke private guided visits should you so require.

A butcher, baker, mini supermarkets, local fishermen (for the early riser) and fresh vegetable stalls are all within a stone’s throw, meaning that a car is not needed for everyday necessities.

The apartment is modernly furnished and has been finished to a high standard combining simple elegance and practical functionality that includes efficient and silent invertor technology AC units in each room that can also be used for heating in the colder months.

It is extremely light and airy and comprises an open plan kitchen / dining / sitting room area, two bedrooms and two bathrooms equipped with generously dimensioned showers (the main bedroom has its own en-suite bathroom). The beds in each bedroom can be arranged as either a large king-sized double bed or separate 90 cm x 2 meter twin beds. The apartment’s master bedroom is large enough to add an extra child’s bed or cot if required. The orthopedic mattresses are comfortable and duvets, bed linen and towels are all supplied. A hair dryer is also provided in each apartment. For stays longer than 2 weeks, we will supply an extra set of clean bed linen.

The kitchen has been thought out so that it will be a pleasure should you prefer to stay in and dine al-fresco on the terrace admiring the evening view over the harbour. The all-electric kitchen is equipped with oven, microwave, induction hob, hood, toaster and kettle and of course a dishwasher to make you feel at home. In addition, each apartment has a clothes washing machine, clothes drying racks, iron and ironing board.

There is free internet / WiFi as well as it is equipped with a streaming device so that you can pick up many of your favourite channels. If you have subscriptions to streaming channels such as Amazon Prime or Netflix, please bring your User ID and Passwords with you so you can log on via the Android box.

A children’s play park with an impressive range of activities for various ages can be reached within 10 minutes on foot.

A number of water sports such as scuba diving, sailing, fishing are all to be found in the region.

For those interested in history, Valletta, the 3 Cities and the megalithic temples of Tarxien are all within 10 – 20 minutes by car.

A very pleasant and wide promenade running along the waterfront around the bay with its numerous restaurants and bars is particularly agreeable for an evening stroll. Along the way you will come across designated cordoned-off bathing areas with direct access to the sea from the flat rocks via short ladders. The water is crystal clear and its temperature is most welcoming from late Spring through to late Autumn. Nearby, St Thomas’ Bay with its sandy beach can be reached by a 5 minute bus ride.

The one thing you will be short of is time to sample everything on offer.

The airport is less than 20 minutes away by taxi and the host will happily organise an airport pick up upon request.

Although the apartment block does not have its own parking, being on a quiet and non-thoroughfare street means that it is usually fairly easy to find a place to park close to the apartment.

It should be noted that the apartment being on the 3rd floor without a lift is not suitable for persons with reduced mobility. This being said, the stairways are wide, well-lit and not steep, so very easy to climb.

To avoid misunderstandings, please note the following:
a) Included in the nightly rental is 10kWh of electricity/day, which is more than adequate for average usage. For extra consumption, a coin meter is provided in the apartment set at €1 buys an extra 4 kWh of electricity. Please note that during periods of extreme Summer heat, you may need to add a few Euros per day extra to fully cover AC consumption.
b) There is a stay tax imposed by the Maltese Tourist Authority of €1.50/guest/night. This applies to persons of 18 years and older. This tax will be collected upon check-in at the apartment.

c) Check in and check out policy
• Normal check in times are 16:00 to 22:00
• Normal check out times are 08h00 – 10h00
• Late check out requests will be evaluated if possible depending on planned cleaning schedule.
• Check out between 10h00 - 12h00 will only be possible if house manager has confirmed it as such and will be free of charge.
• Check out after 12h00 will be subject to a late check out fee of €50 and payable in cash to house manager.
• Check out after 16h00 and extra nights’ stays will be subject to availability and a nightly rental according to the applicable nightly rate (late check out fee not applicable in this case) and is payable in cash to the house manager.
• For arrivals at the apartment that would be after 22h00, for logistical reasons, we will not be able to check you in but we can reserve for you a night’s accommodation in a local hotel where availability permits. Please contact us for this. (Kindly note that it will normally take you at least 1 hour between the actual time of the plane landing and your arrival at the apartment).

Communication was amazing before our stay, Brigette was a great host ensuring we had everything we needed and was always available if we had questions. Die Bewertung fällt etwas gemischt aus.Auf der positiven Seite ist die Größe des Appartments und der tolle Ausblick zu nennen. Auch die Mülltrennung fanden wir gut. Sehr gut und fair fanden wir die Kommunikation mit dem Vermieter. Der Wind hat leider eine Lampe umgeworfen, die wir nach Rücksprache mit dem Vermieter natürlich ersetzt haben. Das ging ganz problemlos.Noch neutral würden wir die Einrichtung bewerten, aber insgesamt doch recht lieblos. Z.B. mag man nicht so richtig längere Zeit auf der Couch Platz nehmen, da sie nicht sehr bequem ist.Zwei Betten waren ok, das Doppelbett jedoch viel zu weich bzw. die Matratzen durchgelegen. Zudem gab es keine Überzüge für die Bettdecken.Wie schon von anderen Gästen bemerkt, gibt es immer noch einen Schimmelfleck in der Küche. In der Küche selbst fehlten Spülmaschinen-Tabs komplett, genau wie ein paar Basics, z.B. Pfeffer und Salz oder Olivenöl. Das kennen wir (als erfahrene Reisende) von anderen Unterkünften ganz anders.Es gab keine Liegen für die tollen Balkone bzw. die Dachterrasse. Daher konnten wir diese auch nicht in vollem Umfang nutzen.In der Summe ist es etwas schade, denn wir finden, dass mit ein wenig mehr Investitionen und Liebe zum Detail die Wohnung extrem gewinnen könnte.

Große Wohnung, guter Ausblick, Lage zu Einkaufsmöglichkeiten und Restaurants sehr gut ( nur für nicht mobilitätseingeschränkte Personen, da insgesamt viele Treppenstufen ) relativ gute Küchenaustattung ( bis auf Teelöffel und leider keine Basics wie Salz vorhanden).Umgebung durch den vielen Verkehr laut, v.a. schlafen mit offenen Fenster zur Hafenseite raus unmöglich. Einiges an Equipment bedarf der Erneuerung (z. B. die rostigen und nicht mehr tragfähigen Liegestühle, einige Handtücher ); einige Gebrauchsspuren trüben etwas den an sich guten Eindruck.

Breath taking view. One of the best I've ever had. Photos don't do it justice. Complete 180 degree uninterrupted view from the balcony. No less than 5 balconies.Nice clean and tidy apartment on the top floor.Only downside is there is no lift and its a good hike up to the 4th floor. Not for the infirm but the views are well worth it.

Great apartment, excellent location

This apartment was even better than the photos show. There are 5 balconies, 3 overlook the harbor. The rooms were spacious with plenty of closet space. Perhaps, most importantly, the apartment was spotless. There are several grocery stores and restaurants just around the corner plus the bus station is 5 minutes walk. Malta gets hot during the day but there is usually a nice breeze coming off the water so we only used the AC at night for sleeping. The community was friendly and people were very helpful. The harbor makes for a pleasant area to walk or run. If you are looking to get away from the main tourist areas but don't want to be too remote, this is a perfect location. There are plenty of swimming areas near the mouth of the harbor to cool off at the end of the day. I suggest the other side of the harbor almost to Fort St Angelo for swimming. Communication with the landlord was excellent and he was able to help us when one small problem came up. I would gladly return to this apartment.

Amazing location, accommodation, security, well furnished

Both Peter & Cynthia were great to communicate with & very helpful from day 1. Fresh fruit & veg & seafood purchased at the waterfront 3 mins walk from the apartment, as well as supermarket items, butchers, bakery within 5 mins walk. Restaurants catering to every need are along the waterfront 3-5 mins walk. Bus stop 2 mins walk or bus terminus 5 mins walk took us to all the busy locations where a car was not practical. We also hired a car & always found parking in our street at odd times. The accommodation is quite modern & has many (well thought through) features like plenty of space for toiletries in the bathrooms, double glazed windows & sliding doors for silence@ night, good sized practical kitchen with an additional breakfast bar/island bench for eating/food prep separate to the dining room table, plenty of cupboard/draws space for clothes, luggage/other items, shoe rack & hanging rack at doorway very practical. Office/study space allowed us to work from our laptops when needed. Plenty of power points & wifi was very quick. Building & apartment security with video intercom guaranteed ourselves or our belongings were never at risk but after being here for 3 weeks you realise it is a very safe community anyway. Street neighbors are very friendly. We lived on the terraces mostly off the loungeroom. The large double opening sliding doors made the terrace with amazing views an extension of our living space & there was always a nice flow of air. Absolutely highly recommended.

A little piece of heaven!

Great location, exceptional harbour views, access to local transit, spacious, roomy, quiet, close to restaurants, markets, bakeries, coffee shops etc. There are 5 balconies included and one is large enough for sun bathing. The apartment was larger than we expected, well equipped kitchen, bedding and linens. Just be aware that the apartment is on the 4th level and there is no lift. We wouldn't hesitiate to stay here again.

Schön aber laut

Die Klimaanlage gegenüber des nachts, die Kreissäge im Morgengrauen und die Kanonenschüsse am Morgen waren zu viel des Guten. Ansonsten ein tolles Appartement, hell und luftig. Der Ausblick malerisch.

Wonderful

We were met at the airport by Cynthia who dropped us off at our apartment . She looked after our cases as we were too early to check in . The apartment had the wow factor and more than met our expectations. Unfortunately after 2 days we had a family emergency and had to immediately leave the apartment and catch a flight home . Cynthia once again came to our rescue and took us to the airport , Both Cynthia and the owner have been kind and generous and I would not hesitate in recommending other people to stay here.
