Hÿgge Haus embraces this spirit completely. This fantastiske 4-bedroom, 3-bathroom home has been thoughtfully restored and renovated for the ultimate Catskills retreat.

Thoughtful Restoration, Inspired Design
The home has been taken down to its original, locally grown Chestnut beams and built back with new solid oak-trimmed windows, full insulation, and soaring cathedral ceilings clad in hemlock milled right here in the Catskills.

The craftsmanship reflects a deep respect for both the home’s history and its future—offering an exceptional balance of form, function, and peaceful living.

Authentic Mountain Living
With strong Scandinavian and European influence, the design and feel of Hÿgge Haus evokes a true alpine lifestyle. Whether you ski, hike, or simply enjoy slow mornings with a view, you’ll feel at home here.

Avid skiers will appreciate the dedicated ski storage and tuning room in the ground floor of the back guesthouse. Belleayre and Plattekill ski mountains are just a 20-minute drive away.

Village Convenience
While the setting feels serene and secluded, you’re right in one of the most livable villages in the Catskills. Stroll to Main Street for coffee, dinner, or groceries—no car needed.

Unusually strong internet and reliable cell service make this an ideal work-from-home or extended-stay retreat—something rare in this region.

Porch & Wildlife Watching
In spring, summer, and fall (and yes, even winter), enjoy the enclosed front porch and listen to the sound of the creek flowing nearby.

A local family of bald eagles nests just north of town and can often be seen hunting over the river behind Main Street. Keep your camera ready!

We love animals, but Hÿgge Haus is not a pet-friendly property. No dogs, cats, or other pets are permitted. This policy helps maintain a clean, allergy-safe environment for all of our guests.

We love our neighbors—and we know you will too! Please keep outdoor noise to a minimum after 9 PM, especially around the fire pit or deck.

Early or late check-in may be available for an added fee with at least 24 hours’ notice. Same-day requests cannot be guaranteed due to cleaning schedules.

We’re available by phone or email if anything arises. This is a private home—not a hotel—so response times may vary slightly, but we’ll do our best to assist you promptly.

Important Travel Info
We recommend saving or writing down key check-in details—such as the address, door code, WiFi info, and host contact numbers—in case you lose signal while traveling.

A vehicle is required to get around. There are no ride-share services (Uber/Lyft) or reliable taxis in this rural area.

Winter Travel Advisory (October–April)
Delaware County is mountainous and beautiful—especially in the winter—but snow and ice are common. Please plan accordingly.

We strongly recommend:

AWD, FWD, or 4WD vehicles
Winter or all-season tires with solid tread
Avoiding 2WD or RWD vehicles in snowy or icy conditions
The driveway is plowed and maintained in the winter. A shovel is provided to help you clear walkways if needed.

A FEW RULES...

Check-In & Check-Out Times
Standard check-in is at 4:00 PM and check-out is at 11:00 AM.
No changes to check-in or check-out times are possible from Memorial Day through Labor Day, or on holidays. Outside of those dates, time adjustments may be possible with at least 24 hours’ notice and are subject to availability. An hourly fee may apply for significant changes.


We have awesome neighbors; help keep us awesome neighbors too.
- No parties. Only the number of guests on the reservation should be in the house. Let Host know of daytime guests.
- No smoking inside the house or on the property. We have neighbors, please smoke in your vehicle. There is a $500 fine for evidence of smoking inside.
- No pets. I know, we love them too.
- No fireworks or firearms.
- Quiet hours 9PM to 8AM, keep outdoor noise to a minimum and indoor noise to a level where it cannot be heard outside.

Non-Refundable Reservations:
Some reservations are non-refundable because the guest selected the discounted non-refundable rate at checkout, or because the booking was made close to the arrival date and falls within Airbnb’s non-refundable window. After Airbnb’s standard 24-hour grace period (if applicable), no cancellations, changes, or refunds will be issued for any reason.

We stayed in “Mary Ann’s Creampie” based on everyone’s favorite brunette from Gilligans Island (and our guess is the double entendre isn’t an accident). Big thumbs up

Beautiful Home

My husband, our two young boys and I had a fabulous time at Hygge House. The location is perfect - very short walk to the main street in Margaretville and quick drive to Belleayre. The house was spotless and decorated beautifully. Kim was also kind and easy to communicate with; she checked in periodically and also warned us about an impending storm. We would definitely stay here again.

Great house close to town and Bellayre

This is our 2nd year skiing at Bellayre and staying in a house that is walking distance from the main street of Margaretville, and abouta 12 minute drive to Bellayre. There is a great diner called Bun n Cone and a nice dinner restaurant called Binnekill Tavern. Grocery shopping is walking distance too. The house itself is very nice, definitely plenty of space for our family of 4. The kitchen is nice and bright, as well as all the rooms upstairs. The bathrooms are also well lit and there is plenty of hot water for showers and great water pressure. The only issues we had with the house, which may not be issues for everyone, is the lighting in the living room and dining room is minimal, and there aren’t many outlets in thise rooms either. The lighting in the downstairs bedroom is also minimal.
