Family & Pet Friendly Restored Cottage in East Mayo with 4* Bord Failte Award

Built by the Congested District Board in 1903, this beautiful cottage has been completely renovated to provide pet and family friendly self catering which has a 4* rating with the Irish Tourist Authority. Situated in the small village of Bracklagh, it has been finished to a very high standard with a new bathroom and kitchen, ensuite wet room, wood/peat burning stove, saorview tv, bluetooth speaker, digital Roberts radio, linen & towels from The White Company, underfloor heating via a groundwater heat pump and most of the electricity provided by a ground mount solar array.. A refurbished hay barn is ideal for parking, while a second, lockable barn is available to store bikes, surfboards and the like. Bracklagh is very quiet and a haven for wildlife – particularly hares and well behaved dogs are VERY welcome.

What a fun place to stay. Sean and Suzi are wonderful Host. They have everything you will need. Plus 2 Shetland ponies and 4 cats! We bought a bag of carrots at aldis right down the road in Ballyhaunis to feed the ponies. We even got to watch the cows being herded from field to field right up the road. There were lots of games to entertain us on our evenings and lots of useful information as to what to do while in Ireland. I told Suzi when we booked the cottage that we were doing some family ancestry. She was so kind and had a print out on the kitchen table with a 1926 census. It turned out to be very useful and found a 3rd cousin with that into. The cottage was very clean and has ample parking and turnaround area. They have hot water for a good shower and even a deep bath tub for a nice soak. Plus they have heated floor which it’s absolutly the best! It is situated centrally for all the destinations we made. If we were to come back we will surely book with them again.

Such a beautiful cosy home with heated floors and a fire! The surroundings were beautiful, not to mention the friendliest cats ever and two gorgeous ponies. Seán (the host) was so lovely and speaks beautiful Irish too. Would absolutely recommend to anyone from a few friends to a full family trip. Will be definitely be staying here again! We loved our stay at this property. The managers were friendly, accommodating and responsive to our questions. The cats and ponies were an extra bonus that made the trip. We used the kitchen quite a bit and had everything we needed. We did not use the washer because we didn’t have a dryer or way to hang clothes. DVDs were great. Beds were comfortable. Heated floors was nice. Great to have a tub and shower. Thanks again!

The nicest place we have stayed at. Wonderful if i new i would of booked it for the entire stay in Ireland. Shawn is a Gentelman with the best Sense of Humor. Went through everything and missed nothing. Hense the reason he is 5 star if 10 Stars were avaliable he would deserve them. Dont miss vour chance to stay off the Grid in the quaintest cottage in Ireland. We will be back

Ein wunderbares Haus in ruhiger Umgebung. Mit dem Auto alles gut erreichbar und Inder Nähe. Drei Katzen gehören zum Haus und sind sehr gut erzogen und liebesbedürftig.Die Gastgeber sind sehr gut erreichbar und die Kommunikation ist top.

Wir hatten zum zweiten Mal eine wunderbare Zeit in dem liebevoll eingerichteten und großzügigen Haus. Die Kinder liebten die Ponys und Katzen sowie den großen Garten. Die Eltern genossen die Abgeschiedenheit und den guten Ausgangspunkt für Ausflüge in die nähere und weitere Umgebung. Sean und Suzi waren dabei herzliche und kommunikative Gastgeber mit einem herrlichen irischen Humor. Wir freuen uns schon auf unseren nächsten Aufenthalt dort.

A wonderful holiday cottage with fantastic hosts!

After our experience at the last cottage, which was less than welcoming (guest instructions posted like confetti around whole house), cluttered, and unclean, we weren't sure what to expect.We weren’t disappointed! Seán allowed us to check in early and met us at their cottage to ensure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. We couldn't have asked for more!The cottage was spotlessly clean and had some basic supplies (tea, sugar, etc.). We took advantage of Suzi's cooking and generosity by ordering her soda bread and a cottage pie for two which would easily feed four and all for a very reasonable 25...thank you, Suzi We humans soon made friends with the resident cats, who thankfully were very dog savvy moggies, although our dogs were less entranced Would we recommend? Undoubtably!Would we come again? Absolutely!
