These forests feature hundreds of miles of hiking, biking, horse trails, exquisite waterfalls, and beautiful mountaintop views. If you and/or your children are fans of The Hunger Games book and movie, a scene with Katniss and Gale was shot at the Pisgah National Forest. Lake Use in 2025
The Town Council and leadership are fully aware of how important it is to reopen the lake, and they are committed to doing so as soon as it's safe. However, due to the timeline of the work completed so far and the ongoing efforts required, it's highly unlikely that the lake will be open for the 2025 summer season, including both motorized and non-motorized vessels, as well as swimming. For those of you who have been following the storm recovery closely, this may not be new information, but we wanted to ensure you received this update directly. Rest assured, the Town Council will continue to explore options for reopening the lake or portions of it, and we will keep you informed with any new developments.4 through March 31, 2025 by 12 feet for routine dredging and maintenance.
