Llac Gregory

The road from Kandy to Nuwara Eliya is full of turns, deceptively long and passes some of the largest tea plantations in the world. Truth be told, driving anywhere in the hill country of Sri Lanka is an exercise in patience given that even short distances can take hours due to slow moving traffic, poor weather or less than desirable roads.

Better then to sit back and enjoy the ride while stopping for the occasional picture. (as we did for this cloudy sunset)

I took this train ride from Nuwara Eliya to Ella which took about 3 hours, and less than 300 rupees- third class is worth the mild discomfort for the people you meet.
