It is the most sacred Muslim site in the world. It is considered the "House of God" and has a similar role to the Tabernacle and Holy of Holies in Judaism. Wherever they are in the world, Muslims are expected to face the Kaaba when performing salat. From any point in the world, the direction facing the Kaaba is called the qibla

⸻ Address Jabal Omar is a new hotel, but unfortunately the customer service is very poor. Even after the drop-off by the Jabal Omar shuttle bus, the hotel is not within the Haram area, and you still have to walk about 10–12 minutes to reach the Masjid. This might be manageable for young people, but ...

New property I understand. - water taps had to be run to flush out brown water that had been stagnant in the pipes. Should’ve been done before we checked in.
